Default Has anyone seen this car before?

Hi Guys/Gals
This is my first post on here. I just wondered if anyone has seen our new (to us) scooby. The only reason i ask as i was a little nieve going into the sale of this and am now not quite sure of a few things. It is a 2000 awd turbo. it was listed as having 330bhp.Now as far as i know it would have been around the 200 bhp mark from new. it has had a new engine since but i think it was new for old straight swap. There has been a different turbo , a td05, baileys dump valve. piggybacked ecu (whatever that means lol such a noob) decat and exhaust. My question is that with the bits that various people have put on it how far off the mark is this mythical 330bhp?? also is the engine gearbox etc strong enough for anything else to be done without the long walk up the road picking up bits from the car!! Thanks for any info or advice that might be coming my way Here is a link to some pics http://s1302.photobucket.com/user/St...tml?sort=3&o=0

hmmmm 330bhp is fairly optimistic in my opinion i would want to know who mapped the piggyback and get rid of the bailey dump valve straight away what service history has it got?

it has quite a lot of service history with it including the receipt for the ecu done by advanced auto electrical in Merseyside. this car has been all over the country lol. i have most of the m.o.t.s lots of servicing paperwork. No paperwork for the turbo tho. What is the better option for a new dump valve or is it better not to have one? i hope the later isnt the case tho...

you have many options when it comes to dump valves i have had a forge unit fitted to my cars as well as a blitz one a dump valve can cause issues for running unless its mapped as the MAF can be confused by the air flow.

Many ppl swear by the standard recirc valve but i have that small chav in me and love the sound but i would avoid bailey as they have a reputation for leaking.

Both of my previous impreza's have been turbo 2000's and it takes a fair wedge of cash to get them anywhere near 300-340bhp

my last one was 320-340bhp running 1.4bar of boost not dyno'd but i fitted a Apexi Power Fc ecu,VF35 turbo,Apexi AVCR boost controller,Hybrid HDI GT1 Front mount,HRC fuel pump and a K&N Induction kit all this was Mapped correctly.

Someone will prob shoot me down but i would think 330 is fairly hard to get off a top mount intercooler due to heat soak

But your on borrowed time unless things like the fuel pump, clutch, possibly gearbox and brakes are uprated.

It's been resprayed too.

By the way, my eyes are bleeding! Sh#t can the chav lights on the back.

CS400/most STi's with a minor tweak easily break 330 BHP.

Thanks for the replies. I'm sure the brakes, suspension and maybe and it is a maybe the clutch have also been uprated. with the lack of abs i managed to find out how well it nearly stops by accident being a tool!! But stopping isn't the prob making sure the front of the car stays attached to the back of the car when giving it a few beans. Would the vf28 give me much more than the td05? i have looked into a new intercooler as all the fins on this one are bent and looks tatty. I am going to need to put an exhaust on it as this one popping under the car. any advice on that would be appreciated also. i do want to have the loudest thump i can get from the exhaust. I have read on here that it isnt a good idea to put a cone filter on (standard atm) but a panel filter instead? i can see the pound notes looking worried in my wallet!!! lol pound notes oldschool here!!

My advice would be to sell it to someone else, do plenty of reading on here then buy something that has been sorted and documented properly.

You have a catalogue of things that need doing to that car so talking about upping the power already isnt a good idea. You've been suckered in by a paint job that belongs in the 1990's and some blingy wheels.

do you know what 330bhp feels like?

You're already asking the most basic of questions and if you dont know what a panel filter is you shouldnt be owning and modding an Impreza. It sounds like its been "chipped" by an auto-electrical place so the 1st thing I'd have done is a decent ESL map on it and someone check it over for the basic mods like an uprated fuel pump, panel filter, 440 injectors and de-cat downpipe.

If it doesnt have at least 4 pot brakes and an uprated clutch etc then you've been well and truly led up the garden path. I hope you didnt pay much for it.

Take your car to http://www.tritonmotorsport.com/show...?id=index_cont and get them to give it once over if you need to replace any of the parts normally they have 2nd hand OE parts i.e. the dumpvalve repalce it with the OE part

Personally I would doubt that it's anywhere near 330bhp

How does one get into the rear out of interest? Tilting front seats or lots of stretching?Change the wheels, hide them puny calipers.

the panel filter question was specificaly about which one to put in not that i dont know the difference. i had read on here somewhere that a k n cone filter could reduce bhp on this model. Yes i think i got caught up in buying this a little hasty but i also said i was nieve on original post! The rear doors do open its just a delock on the outside just poke your hand into back to open it and also you can get out in the event of something going wrong. i have driven anything with 330 bhp before so couldn't compare. we drive a celica gtr and have had mr2s ftos etc before but never a turbo.

How much did you pay for it out of interest? If it has had the parts fitted, an ESL board would be the way to go, 330 isn't realistic but you might get close to 300 if the engine's healthy. Get those rear arches sorted and respray it white or WR blue with different wheels and you could have a decent Scooby

Dude take it to one of the specialists who frequent here, Scoobyclinic, Enginetuner etc, get a health heck on it I.e compression, ecu (whether it's been mapped for the mods properly or not) etc and see what they come up with.
If all isn't well get it on eBay/gum tree etc and as others have said, do your research and try and buy one from a reputable tuner or an enthusiast owned car form the for sale section here. Too many subarus still around who've had chavs for owners and haven't been tuned properly for the relative mods.
Good luck
