Anyone seen todays magazine articles covering the "ultimate Celica" revealed by Toyota.
Could possibly be in production in 2 years time.
Features 500... yes... 500bhp and 460lbft from a 2.0 turbo engine derived from one of their US race series.
All this and 4-wheel-drive too.
Top speed is said to be in the region of 190mph!!!
The styling is erm... what can say... amazing.
Its featured on both the Top Gear and Auto Express web sites.

If you want to see a "real" engine, then send me your e-mail address and I'll forward you the dyno plot for one of Harvey's RS500 road engines.... (I think you'll wake up to the real world then!

What I said was that not even you could get that much power.
Anyway, if that bloke harvey can do it (and I have no doubt he can), how come he doesn't build one for you? - or was it a lucky "one off" and you RS boys worship that dyno plot like the holy grail.....ha ha ha......

I can't see it happening as Toyota UK don't have any true performance variants on sale in the country. When I spoke to the Toyota people at the garage where I got my wife's RAV4, they knew nothing about performance variants of the Celica. I read about the GT4 engine going in the Picnic (yes), they knew nothing. Hell, there's no hot Corolla either, MR2 turbo is not for sale here, GT4 is no longer sold/exists.
I half expected to find pipe, slippers and complimentary subscription to the Radio Times in the glove box when my wife picked up her car.

He did build my engine, but I asked for certain parameters to be taken into account (like drivability!), hence the lowly 420bhp. If you saw the power curve I have for his 550bhp conversion, then you would know what I mean - it doesn't start to make any real power until 4500revs, where it makes only 260 bhp and 303 lb ft of torque (compared to my 310bhp and 363 lb ft at the same revs). However 1500revs later this has doubled to 520 bhp and 447 lb ft at 6000 (compared to my now lowly 398 bhp and 349 lb ft at this engine speed) before peaking at 555 bhp and 384 lb ft at 7500 (whereas mine peaks at 6500 making only 419 bhp and 338 lb ft). Obviously this is why when you put your foot down at 120mph in fifth in his 550 conversion it "paints" the road with two black lines - good for showboating, but not practical to drive!
The 450 bhp (with hopefully the same torque)conversion I have planned will be super-trick. I don't want to divulge too much, because what we are attempting has never been done before (on a petrol engine) and I don't want to spoil the surprise when (if!) it happens. However, I will tell you that to achieve my goal I will need to switch to the Pectel T6 engine management as used on the WRC cars, as it is the only thing capable of controlling all the hardware required....

Will e-mail shortly, I just need a few mins to scan it in. In the meantime, the engines last for at least 10-20,000 miles before they need a new head gasket (downside of running such high boost even with long studding), and around 40-50,000 miles before they need a freshen up rebuild (longer if not caned EVERYWHERE), as in new shells, pistons, rings and re-bore to next size...

If you are referring to Nigel England's car, I have actually never been out on the track when he was (although I wanted to desperately). The only times I have been there when his car was out was as a spectator or in a different session and yes, I did witness him embarrassing a few "supposed" fast cars, but then it is a proper race car on slicks, with cage and one trillion lb springs!
My car was the one that "humbled" your mates Skyline, where he though it was Simon's car when he next came in to see you!
Hope you and Dirk are both keeping well "oop North", Thetford has apparantly not been the same since you left!

Im glad you remember who I am!!! But you must be getting your wires slightly crossed. I havent got a mate with a skyline, we are now "darn sarf ish." and Nigels car was on TOYO T1 road tyres (the ones he had to run in his championship).

I was only going by what Simon was saying - apparantly the guy has a Ferrari as well (again according to Simon!), and while he was at "your place" the guy in question came up to Simon and said that he couldn't believe that Simon had beaten him. Obviously as it was me who had, Simon didn't know what he was on about, but next time I saw Simon, he asked if I had raced any Skylines recently (as there aren't many Moonstone Blue 160+mph Cossies in Norfolk!), and thats when he told me about him being accused of the deed and the story behind it....
Sorry my mishtake about the slicks and location (geography's not my strong point!), but I must confess I was more interested in the engine and just assumed abou the tyres...
Perhaps of you're into your Scoobies we'll meet up at one of the track days.
