I have the same issue I have what looks like a dump valve but I get a massive whistling spool followed by a chochichocho?

Why is there a dump valve?

i believe APS is a dual vent valve, so it recirculates under low boost but on full boost or when dumping on high boost it will VTA. I had one on my old sti, decent bits of kit. You can adjust them also to suit your requirements

Nice car Rick

I actually quite like the whoosh-pssst but agree it doesn't help the car and draws all the wrong kind of attention.

Even you have a specific build and map OEM is usually the way forward. Cosworth and Litchfield both use the OEM on their 2.5s.
