Default Subaru hatch owners 2008+

I have to admit I'm really starting to like the look of these more and more! I recoiled at first but now I actually want one

What are they like to live with? they seem a bit better on fuel than the saloons (from reading a few reviews) I may skip the hawk altogether and go for one of these next

Hi mate, I use mine every day to commute to work and back 52 miles a day 5 days a week, I never get sick of it to be honest. average tank full of fuel will see me 300 miles driving with reasonable self control. but once the taps are opened it drops as you'd expect.

Handling wise a hell of an improvement on my old 53 plate sti in std form, But a simple fit of powerflex subframe inserts stiffens the rear up allot accompanied with some uprated antiroll bars makes all the difference unless you plan on coilovers etc etc.

Cool I do a similar commute (60 miles a day) currently have WRX 54 plate saloon. I've always liked the look of the Civic Type-R but the fact I can get a Scooby Hatch with all the power is awesome

you'll get the usual anti-hatch brigade along soon spouting off how **** they are and the chocolate engines. Not all of them fail, just keep a good eye on fluids etc etc & use good quality fuels etc

I must admit i wasn't a fan of the hatch looks when i came out but it has grown on me. I've heard there a fantastic drive.
I think since the engine remap there pretty reliable as long as you stay away from the redline or mods. If you want to get into that get it forged and you have a great modern subaru.

The hatch is a good car. I think a lot of anti-hatchers that Rob refers to don't like the shape or haven't driven one.

Imprezas are enthusiasts cars and most are modified to suit the owner's taste. The hatch is exactly the same and you can create an absolute monster quite easily.

The 2.5 engines are anecdotally prone to ringland failures but there are no raw and hard figures on the percentage or rate. However I am aware of spectacular failures of all engine variants from classic WRXs and 22Bs right through to the latest models. High powered performance cars occasionally go pop, but unfortunately this is true of all cars in general.

Bottom line of advice from me is that if you want one, get one and enjoy it. I have owned STi variants of all models since the bugeye I know that I love my hatch to bits.

We've just completed a 450 bhp forged build on one, and I'm now running it in for the customer before mapping. It's a cracking car and a really nice drive.
