Default clutch is slipping...happy days

Hey all, £490 for replacement clutch inc labour sound about right on a 2000 classic non-turbo sport?

that sounds like turbo clutch money to be honest, clutch is normally about £250 for a standard exedy and £200 for labour on a turbo.

Import car parts do the clutch kit for £144 inc vat so you are paying £350 for fitting. Bit high if you ask me.

Hmm this is not good news then, quite suprised as its booked in with the guys at carnetix and they are generally pretty resonable on price

I've just paid £330 total for an exedy clutch to be fitted to my uk 2000 turbo so that sounds a bit steep tbh.

Sounds like they are watching you coming over the hill mate!
You can get a clutch kit from around £100 (not going to be the best of course at that price) and a garage to me has quoted £220 labour to fit (sorry, I need a clutch too) so nearly £500 you are being taken for a ride

Carnetix are not ripping u off ur paying for a specialist subaru knowledge who will treat ur car with the utermost respect nit just want to get the job don as quickly as possible.

I had a clutch change at scoobyworld for over 700 exedy stage 1 so i personally wudnt buy the cheapest out there as its not a job u want to be doing often!

Cheapest is not always best when it comes to ur pride and joy but its up to u

I notice your in notts, and it's a non turbo, i'd just use yellow pages and go to the cheapest specialist clutch centre, unless you plan on keeping the car for 10yrs it's not worth the extra, the car is only worth ish £1k why spend half it's value on a clutch, there is a place down clifton bridge that i used a few years ago, did a perfectly good job for £260 and the clutch was fine when i sold the car a couple of years later, all the pattern clutches i have used were exeddy anyway.

Or just buy your own from sutton auto factors off porchester road and i'll give you the number of a spanner monkey that works for peanuts.
