Default No more Super Unleaded in the Channel Islands

The local supplier of Super Unleaded to the Channel Islands has decided to stop importing the fuel.

Currently they are mentioning tank repairs / alternative product / ok to use 95 octane but nothing defined has come out.

This will have a massive impact on not only those of us who run modified cars in the islands, but also new and 2nd hand car sales as there are alot of cars out there that are recomended by the manufacturer to run on 97 or above.

I think you MAY be wasting your time. This could prove to be another bit of EC meddling.

I do know the French are talking of phasing out 98 octane over there.

I also think you're wasting your time.
Ireland for example hasn't had SUL for a long time.
Its not exactly widespread in N.Ireland either.

What's the opinion on Octane boosters?

I don't use them as I've got plenty of 99 around me.

I have been told to steer clear of them but no one has ever given me much of a reason for doing so.

Not being able to raise to 98-99 would be a very good reason to avoid then!

Ireland has phased out 97, but they do have an alternative available.

This is nothing to do with EU, down to the importer holding the islands to ransom.

And no one here can remap.

Some mappers will travel: contact a few to see how much they would charge to come for a day?

Loving the typo there

As an ex-Jersey Man now living in France I've never understood the point of owning anything "high-performance with wheels" on the islands

A trip to aj is already planned for may, but why should i be forced to remapping my car for a poor quality fuel and loose power.
Well spotted on the typo. Plan is to use the car in local motorsport at some point, was heavily modified when i lived in the uk and used for drag racing
