Default wierd loud whistle noise HELP

i have a problem with my 99 turbo 2000
when speeding up my car develops a really loud high pitched whistle, it sounds like its coming from behind the dash! thought it might have been the vacum pipe leeking so i blocked it off and still have the same problem! it doesnt happen when im just driving around town slowly it only when i speed up then as i let off the throttle it goes and as i put my foot down again its back!
any ideas???

Could be a possible boost leak from your exhaust gaskets i.e. up pipe or down pipe or it could be your turbo (tho if it was your turbo there will be other signs to accompany the sound like smoke & it generally not pulling as well as it should).

if its a high pitched whistle it may be the boost pipe under the tmic,
as mentioned it does sound like a boost leak.

My downpipe gasket was leaking ever so slightly and caused a high pitched whistle on boost.

right ive just decided to take my dump valve off and go back to standard recurculating valve and it seems much better in lots of ways it is boosting stronger ticks over better and sounds better and the high pitched noise seems to have stopped but i only went round the block so not sure if its cured but fingers crossed and thanks for your suggestions, i will look into these things if the problem exists
