Default Hi new here.

Hi everyone.

We have just bought another subaru, and I thought it was about time I joined the forum.

We already have a subaru impreza sport special in kashmir yellow. Its y reg, NA, with 17" wheels and is bloody loud, our lass wont have a quiet car. we have also just sold our blue impreza NA and bought a 2001 wrx for her.

Sorry that my first post is a request for help, but I guess thats why most people first come here.

The previous owner has taken off the mid level spoiler and fitted a low level one, this has left a lot of glue on the boot, Has anyone got any advice on the best way to get it off without ruining the paintwork.

Steve

Depends on the glue. Maybe a solvent or a hair dryer would help. Post up what type of glue it is and you're more likely to get some answers.

Hi Steve and welcome.

Have you tried auto, glym instant tar remover? It's really good at removing old glue, just dont be too forceful as you don't want to damage the paint

We have only just bought the wrx and the seller had no idea what the glue was. so not a lot of help really.

The closest I could describe it as is an off white/grey putty type of texture

Thanks for the hints re tar remover, hair dryer etc. will give them a go. it looks bloody awful.

Too true Rob the paintwork is in really good condition, apart from these great lines of glue. and I dont want to damage it, if I can help it.

Be VERY careful with a hair dryer! You can damage your paint!

Sounds a bit like grip fix. Some glues may actually cure harder with heat if they are newish.

Hi and thanks for the help again Rob and you hedgecutter?????????

I had another closer look today, and it appears to be a double layer, the upper is the white stiff putty like stuff. but underneath is a black almost like mastic layer, its hard but will scrape with my fingernail, puzzled now.

Autoglym intensive tar remover as said, or Zoff adhesive wipes available from Boots behind the counter.
They come in a box of 10 or 20 wipes I think, each wipe is in a foil wrapper.
