ECU Switches? Show me!!!
Hello all,
Hopefully before Christmas i'll be having an ESL daughter board fitted
I'm having two maps and i'm looking for some advice and inspiration for switches.
It's going to be fitted to a V4 Sti facelift dash. If you could show me some pics of yours and where you bought the switch i'd be really grateful.
Thanks in advance.

Have been looking at something similar for my hawk. Saw an aeroplane style swith in maplins a while ago. Red switch cover flips up and has a toggle switch underneath which lights up when activated. Only thing i didnt like was twas a tad big. Cant post a link cos im on my phone. But might be worth checking out the maplins website.

Do I have a different map that I don't know about?

no mate, you have no secret map. Obviously you would need to have duel maps installed like ecutek racerom which i assumed dantheman has, hence him saying he was looking into switching on his hawk.

Just I would ask your preferred mapper if you could use the Syvecs CAL switch on ESL

Thanks Jura (again). I'm currently waiting to hear back from a couple of them.
I know on my dads (simtec) classic v4, he has a tiny little switch inside one of the blank switches near the hand brake. I was hoping for something a bit better than that.

Right, I've spoke with the mappers and designers of the ESL daughter board.
Unfortunately, as stated above, it is switched by having your foot on the accelerator and then turning the ignition on. This is likely to change but there is no set date.
On the plus side i asked a few other questions. 97 -99 models will have an anti lag and launch control option by the end of the year. Models prior to this will have it available a couple of months after.
Thanks for all your help guys. I've choose to go mafless so i'm now waiting for the rcm air filter and trying to find a trumpet to match my zerosports cool air feed. It looks like i'll be updating you further in the new year.
Scooby B, love those switches, any ideas where you can buy them?

It's done that way for a reason.
It's a complex ECU and retains alot of learned data due to its closed loop fuel and knock control functions.
The ECU needs to be powered down between maps to reset that data. If you are running a 95RON map and a 99RON map or a SUL map and a meth map retaining that learned data when switching is not a good idea.
We were also trying to keep costs down for users in every respect. The ESL ECU is designed to be fitted without wiring changes and communicates through the diagnostic port so you don't have to pay for an electricians time or take the kickplate off every time you want to attach a cable to the ECU.
