Default STI8 Needs more power.. help

Right..
Current spec
TD05 20G
Harvey up pipe
2.5 decat down
2.5 exhaust
Walbro 255 pump
Hawk STI injectors
RCM induction kit
Fuellab Pressure reg
Ecutek remap (Andy F) estimated circa 400 bhp
Exedy pink box clutch
Stock 2004 STI internals.

I would like to hit between 450-500bhp

I'm not willing to take risks with the stock engine as "they" say the limit is around 400.
No idea what I need on the engine spec side of things can anyone post up some explanatory info for me please..

What size injectors do I need to use will 750cc be enough.

Not decided on what turbo I'm going to go for but I definitely want to go with a front mount i/c rotated setup.

Last question.. Is 450-500 bhp achievable with Ecutek or do I need a stand alone ecu like a simtek..

Depends what engine spec you want (2.0 2.1 2.5 etc). So many options. You could run 500+ on your current engine with meth, bigger turbo & standalone.

450 on Ecutek is achievable, maybe a bit more with a bigger maf housing. For 500 I would say you need a standalone.

750cc injectors will happily cope with over 500.

With supporting mods yes. Some may say noo. However I know many newage engines that have been running over 500hp with meth for ages. Thats with abuse!

I ran my standard newage engine at 450hp for over a year. This was with Vpower only

Spec:
MD321T
750cc
2.5" DP with 3" Exhaust
FMIC
Ecutek
AVCR boost controller
Equal length headers
Bigger MAF housing

Hi there

You should be OK with the 750cc at 450-500bhp

3" exhaust would say will be needed and FMIC will be needed too and as above Kas said, bigger MAF will be needed, but still I would go with aftermarket ECU,just for piece of mind,if you will go with Syvecs/AlcaTek you don't need boost controller, bigger MAF housing, multiple boost/fuel maps etc.

Turbo choice,MDX321T or SC42/46

We're run MDX321T and really nice turbo like on 2.0L or 2.1L,I would suspect on 2.5L will be just awesome

So the UK STI newage 2.0L is capable of safely running over 400bhp?
The only reason i ask is i may possibly be looking for a newage shortly but don't know wether to hold out for a JDM or not?

Ye very easily. I can name a huge list of people I know who are running over 400hp on a standard newage. If its done properly & maintanined well then it will be fine. You know what they say, you pay to play.

I myself have run over 400 on a newage STi. JDM has the JDM big port heads so you get the 8250 rev limit. Also the 5th & 6th is shorter on the JDM newages.

I would not hesitate at all to push a standard newage STi engine to over 400. Bullet proof!

For rotated turbo setup you will need Garrett GT30,but yes you can use standard location turbo and buy S4Y(Subaru 4 You) rotated setup for standard location turbo

But still think MDX321T or SC42/46 will be better choice for you

Hi James

Yes they can run safely 400bhp+,just depends as on every car how car has been treated etc.

Steve@The Gimp running on his STi 7 480bhp and may others running too above 400bhp without the issue

But still I would rather choose JDM STi
