Default Key

As you must know the Impteza key is large.
Is there a flip fob version avliable to stop me stabbing myself while in my pocket!
Sure this has been researched before and not sure a quick google search is blank.

Of how easy to convert to keyless???? If possible.

Flip key would be great actually, even better if you could integrate the sigma fob functions too. Pockets need to be huge just now

I'm being a bit dim here but the buttons on the key don't work, all locks controlled by sigma fob

Any thoughts?

My 02 STI uses the key not the fob.

Not for the alarm it doesnt. it will lock unlock the car. thats factory fit. When the alarms fitted the batteries are normally removed from the key. If its a uk car it will have a sigma alarm and should have a seperate fob

Mine uses the key to lock/unlock and arm/disarm the alarm, have tested and it does!
I did check with a dealer when I got the car as told the same and found out that some are like this.

Hmmm, this may start a debate

Whatever the outcome I would pay handsomely for a flip key that armed/disarmed/locked/unlocked all in one. Can't believe that nobody has started selling them actually, sigma included

Ok well i can assure you on my car 02 sti uk car. If i put batteries in the key it will lock and unlock the doors but not set the alarm. I have a seperate key fob which sets the alarm and also locks unlocks doors.

Id suggest you open your bonnet. Tape down the alarm/bonnet open switch. Then lock the door with the key button(bonnet still open) give it two or three minutes them remover the tape to see if the alarm sounds.

Im interested because i was told there was no way the key could be coded to operate the alarm

As I said earler, this has been tested on all doors/boot/bonnet and sitting inside lock with the key, sitting still, waited 30 seconds and moved and the ultrasonics activated.
Mine does work!
Proved only last week at the Subaru main dealer when I had the siren replaced.

cool i did the opposite because i was told the key couldnt operate the alarm. Im using a much smaller nissan key with no buttons. The subaru blade is the same as nissans so just had it cut and swapped the chip over.
