Default 98Ron Fuel in France.

I`m planning a road trip to France and Shell stations seem sparse along my route.(Tesco is even thinner on the ground) Anyone traveled there? Total excellium seems the main alternative, or should I carry an octane booster? Ta

Thanks. Lee, that planner leaves me with a gap of over 400 miles with no 98ron; optimistic mpg !!

Ive never had a problem finding 98 in France when driving to Barcelona. Every petrol station I stop at has it as an alternative.

Great. Thank you. I had problems last year with French supermarket diesel, when it got down to -22C . It`s often 10 cents a litre less than autoroute prices, but has little anti waxing properties, so I imagined that supermarket petrol would be as poor. Total excellium diesel was really poor, and when I came home I googled reviews of it to find that Which had discovered it did not give better mpg or quieter start up.

When I go, I never have problems finding 98 RON, only PAYING for it.

On motorways, it will be up 16-20c a litre on supermarkets.

I tend to leave the motorway at a large town, or sign for a centre commerciale when I need fuel and go in the first supermarket.

My car has a KnlockLink and I keep an eye on it after a fill-up, and add a bottle of Octane Booster if it shows abnormal activity.

Even Shell in France is only 98 octane, never seen 99.

Wouldn't hurt to carry a Octane booster as a back up for if you did get caught short..

I carry some, but the chances of NOT finding 98 RON are remote.

I carry it because supermarket stuff is unpredictable.
