Engine bay clean day
Only had the new toy a couple of weeks and nearly cleared all the items on my to do list.
Today was engine bay clean it was slightly dirty which was good when I bought the car as it showed that it was not cleaned for the sale.
So here is the before:

Used this below and sprayed on with a low pressure sprayer with the engine warm not hot left for 10 mins then washed off with cold pressure washer, then a light dusting with WD 40 which replaces the metal oils removed by the clean, must wipe off the excess, used this method on quite a few and always good result.

Looks very nice indeed.
Does the new green Gunk smell like the old Gunk? That used to hang around for ages.
I use Autoglym Engine and Machine Cleaner followed by their Vinyl & Rubber Care these days which is good stuff.
Of course, taking it too seriously leads down the slippery slope to here:

Which in turn means, like me, you hardly ever drive the car in case it gets dirty....

Used the same method on my GTI6 which came up a treat, safe on plastic and rubber paint etc and is biodegradable

oh and with the recirculation valve mine was almost as bad as that, so when i had my intercooler off i removed the valve and got my dremel polishing wheel onit with some megs metal polish
Took about 1 hours to get good!
