Default WRXS PPP hatch any good?

Just started looking at getting a new car as the daily hack (60 plate civic) is reaching high milage!

poped down to the subaru dealer for a chat, as i would like the STI saloon, but the wife doesnt think we need the sti version, so the dealer suggested a wrxs hatch, which apparently is a limited edition PPP hatch in blue with 250bhp, 18s prodrive bits and it looks smart i think,
im not 100% clued up on the hatches, so are these worth it? any problems? pros and cons? any one have one?
cheers
CJ

my dad loves his! only problem he finds with it is that its abit softly sprung and boat like on corners, when it comes to speed of them tbh ive driven it and i think its on par with mine 301hp ppp blob sti, mainly as it boosts from pretty much 1000rpm so the way it gets up to speed is totally different

WRX-S has 287 lbs ft of torque, that's on a par with the Sti hatch or as near as damn it. Great car for the money and no engine problems.

1 more thing it seems to lack which would help it is a 6th gear, not nessesary for the economical side tho just top end, but if I were you buy it fantastic cars!

If your not gonna mod it much then def go STI, its a much better car all round and you wont see them driving round and wished you had got one instead of the wrx

great car m8 I had the black one, loved it

As for the 6th gear its a psychological thing, you'd think it would help MPG and in essence it prob does, but nothing you really notice,

I nailed 15k miles in mine tonking down the m1 cant say its much diff, still hovers under 3k at 70 in either car.

as for power want my honest view, the diff between that and the box standard STI isn't massive, in my book anyway its noticeable but not a wow factor. The 320R made it better.

As the guys said if you don't plan on modding it much then id get it.

but if you plan on heavy mods, get the sti, I tried and asked the question when I had it, and was advised by Lichfields that the components would need a bigger overall to reach XXX BHP than you would in an STI

and lastly I ran dare I say it 95 ron all the time, and it was bulletproof.

In my defence it did say 95 on the fuel cap, only was I then told at its 10k service when I asked, I should have been using 97, but the sticker was my backup

car ran fine

Ok brill thanks for your input guys much appreciated, it will be the wife's car mostly as I have my v6 classic and Waggon, so it won't be getting modified, just regular servicing and possibly some little touches here and there to make it stand out a bit, but no performance mods,
If there isn't that much in it with regards the sti/wrxs then I can't see the need to spend the extra £££
Off to test drive it over the weekend so fingeres crossed she will like the drive and seating position etc

Love mine. Great torque but the softest suspension I've ever had on an Impreza.

I've a WRX hatch with PPP and added all the 'S' bits bar the GT1's (bought before S was launched).

Done 35k happy hassle free miles over last 3 years, all good.

6th gear would be nice but the ratios are so long that once used to it, it really doesn't matter much.

Just 1 more thing to note for you is the sound, I've not yet heard a hatch that has the Subaru burble , if you closed your eyes and was asked to indentify it you just couldn't!

Wrxs is a well sorted car and looks the part and should be cheaper to run generally then the STi

You won't be dissapointed by the performance and will make the nice noise
Suspension is quite soft but you get used to it but it will grip nicely

I guess that's very true, new car new noise! IMO it's the best hatch you can get for your money! By far better than the RS, ST focus, Leon's etc, the inside space is huge with the rear seats down, got 3 bikes and camping gear in the back with plenty of space left!
