hey there, just got in from an unsuccessful attempt at the drivers rocker cover gasket. my socket set was way too big.what next? smaller set?. then tried to do the o2 sensor near drivers wheel. couldnt do it? took heat shield off but couldnt get it over the old sensor? do you cut the heat shield? cant see how you would get a 22mm spanner on there with heat shield on.hmmm, very frustrating. from reading other posts i thought this would be easy job. what i did find is though that my rocker cover gasket isnt leaking that bad but still leaking and main drip on floor is coming from sump plug. tightened it so hopefully sorted. also what is the small black metal cover just sitting on top of rocker cover? it has a small rubber hose coming out from the top as it looks like its leaking there a little. is it just a breather?could do with the jubilee clip changing. do you think i should attempt rocker gasket with smaller socket set? also tips for changing the sensor would be great. thanks guys! car is 2001 bugeye wrx. ej205

wheel off but tbh you do it from underneath, jack car up and support with axle stand, undo plug on inner wing for wiring and tie a draw wire on to it also tie 1 end to the BS bracket,
then drag the wiring down from underneath, undo the heat shield bolts and leave the shield hanging, slip the 22mm spanner over the plug and wiring , then use the spanner to "crack" the sensor loose, it should then be easy to remove with your fingers,
refit is as the Haynes manuals say.
