Default New user (no Subaru yet!) - advice needed please

Apologies if this is in the wrong section for my first post...

I'm looking to get around a 2004-2005 plate WRX and I was just wondering what is the cambelt change interval?
I've seen one on 82k and it's had a change at 45k but none since, is it due another?
Also I'm seeing some advertised with the Prodrive Performance Pack, obviously this gives a decent chunk of extra power but I was wondering if it drops the mpg at all? (heavy right foot aside )

Cheers

Leebo

Ha, I'm not that worried about mpg as I'm only getting about 24-26 from my current mk1 TT anyway!
I was just wondering was all!

Didn't expect it to be every 3 years to be honest but good to know! Is there anything else that should be changed at the same time as the cambelt? On the TT it was also the hydraulic tensioner and water pump.

How much should I be looking to pay for this?

Interval on newage is 50k or 5 years so a 2005 if done in 2010 is not due till 2015.

Nice one, cheers for the advice.
Is that the same for the 2005 2ltr and the 2006 2.5ltr then? I'm looking at both!
Other people I've asked have said the 2.0ltr is the better car probably, is that true?

Most will say the 2.0L is the better car.

I have the WRX Wagon with PPP and if i'm very carful i can get 33mpg, which means when i go for a blast and only get 15mpg i don't feel too bad.

Loads of people on here getting mid 20's in normal driving, i stick to speed limits mostly, and average around 28mpg which i think is good for what the car can do, when i'm in the mood.

Some think the ppp is not worth the money, but i think most of them never drove one, i have had a specialist remapped wrx and a ppp, and while the specialist car was slightly faster, it went pop on 36000 ish my ppp has 93000 and still going strong.

Mate that's better than I get in the TT and for the performance of the Subaru I'll be well happy! :-)
Ok great stuff, you're confirming what most people are saying and that's a 2ltr ppp so that's what I think I'm going to look out for! I want an unmodded car other than the ppp though.
If anyone is trying to sell theirs point them my way please!! :-D

I had a wrx with ppp and it was very good, only thing I would advise is a front brake upgrade and I chose to fit sti front brembos and sti wheels to clear them. Really transformed the car and made me more confident in using it. Remember that any later 2.5 cars you look at if 2006 onwards will be on the very high road tax. This may or may not bother you.

Yep mate already spotted that! I'm looking at anything registered before march 2006 ideally although if I find a decent deal comes up for a later model then I won't worry too much about an extra 200 a year in tax.
