Default 301 bhp on my classic shall i mod for more?

hi guys, my classics running at 301 bhp on a vf34 turbo.
just wondering if i could or should change a few mods for more power.
i dont want to push it to much for it to go bang, or shall i just leave it as it is?
its a 2001 plate and done nearly 130000 miles so dont know if i should risk it.
thanks.

130k is alot, also 301 is pretty low on a vf34, so is suspect a few supporting mods will get a bit more from it. Also adds to the risk of it letting go though

I wouldn't, not without stripping and forging, new bearings etc.

A 300 bhp classic is the equal of newage cars around 380-400bhp.

Leave the power where it is chap. If you wanna go quicker maybe look into a few handling and braking goodies.

a 300bhp classic is not the same as a 400bhp newage

Yep.

General rule of thumb is a newage will need 50bhp more to match a classic.

What's your current brake and suspension setup buddy ?

Budget is a major factor.

1. Raise it again: lowering feks the handling, make sit MORE likley to roll, not less.

2. Depending on what it has now, the LEAST you want is four-pots at the front, decent discs and pads.

3. Solid droplinks all round, thicker REAR arb, (leave the front alone), full geometry setup from someone who knows what he is doing, not the local tyre place.

Who lowered it & how? As Alcazar states lowering springs can make the car handle worse, but a good set of coilovers professionally set up by a Subaru specialist can transform the handling. My BCs were fitted & set up by Carnetics & the handling is now amazing.

You're off to a good start then, Carnetics are highly reputable & know Subarus insideout. You must be near me then, I'm just outside Nottingham about 15 miles from Carnetics.

Wow is that the extra brake you need in a newage to make up the weight difference?
