Default Blanking off OE Dump valve on a New age STI

Just wondering if it would be safe the run my 04 STI while having the OE dump valve blocked off? If its safe i was thinking off making a blanking plate to put behind the OE valve on the intercooler so i get sum wastegate chatter? Thoughts please

I wouldnt fully blank it of on your car as the VF range turbos arent as sturdy as a TD05 for example.

Id recommend making a blanking plate but putting a 10mm hole in the centre so the dv can still work partially. Will still produce chatter, but wont damage the turbo as much as fully blanking.

mine does that in 3rd 4th 5th and 6th gear with the vta dump valve on must be enough pressur to open it. obviously if am giving it the beans it dumps but can feather the throttle to get flutter could have something to do with the cold air feed pipe. not sure of what there ment to be called but its the one where the filter is behind the for lamp cover

My old blitz VTA dump valve made chatter under low boost on my old TD04l but when I swapped it for a HKS SSQV I lost the chatter, maybe something to do with one having a stiffer piston or spring. Miss having the chatter so thinking of changing the HKS back to a recirc to see if that has any effect (on a vf34 ).

Fine IMHO if I ran a VF35 it wouldn`t worry me tbh. Have DV`less on my TD05`s and VF3/4*`s are supposed to be more robust than the VF2*`s.

Running 1.5 bar now on mine.
Get a lovely chatter on low boost then on full boost max rpm it's one hell of sound followed by a few flames out of all 4 pipes on odd occasions lol

You can certainly get those silly devices that make a dump valve noise for 18 year olds with 1.1 Fiestas. I wonder if some back alley shed in China makes wastegate chatter devices! Might be a more sensible alternative to deleting something which is there for a purpose?

Best compromise I found was running an adjustable VTA DV such as a Turbosmart, then stiffen the spring right up and your get a good deal of chatter with the added safety of venting on full boost.

A few of the mappers say running dv delete is not a good idea if your still running the MAF.

Mappers say a lot of things, more often regurgitated out of context I find. Did they share why ?

Ummm I cant actually remember where I seen it or for that matter which of the mappers it was, just remember reading that it will cause the car to be jerky coming on and off the throttle. So I just waited to go mafless before going down this route my self.

Yes fully blanked it off. Plugged the hose that went to it too. and blanked the hose that returns to the intake pipe off.

Funny how if you say i want to fit a vta everones up in arms on this site.

But a thread about blanking off the port completly gets some support!

The chater you hear is the charge air stalling the compressor.. its not a good thing!
