Has anyone got a Cosworth?
Reviews are rather tepid...
Would like to hear from some one who actually has one?
If the 'Higgs boson' particle is the God particle,
Is the 'Cosworth' the God Subaru??

Think he's referring to the CS400 nice cars and at £38k for a new one it is a good deal as opposed to the £50k price tag when they were first launched . I personally think the Spec c R205 is much better than the Cosworth imo hence me buying one instead of the Cosworth

£38 new is a good price for one of the last ones
There is a lovely silver one at Newcastle Subaru for £38 about a year old
Lovely interior
It was a sales disaster for Subaru
They really need to examine themselves at Subaru uk on what the customers actually want
My local dealer Stan Palmer had a fantastic plasma blue hatch in the showroom for a year at £34-5k the then reduced it to £27 k and it went within a few days
I hear there is talk of a new STi saloon at 30k fully loaded they need something like that to get the market moving for them again r even the Aussie orange edition at 30k
They are missing out so much on sales
They discontinued the excellent wrxd although my spec went up to £25500 after I bought it and they need a petrol wrx to retail at £20k as hatches are more acceptable no to the purists but the 34k does put people off
I guess Subaru are putting all their eggs in one basket with the BRZ

Anybody who rates either the Sierra Cosworth or Escort Cosworth as a better all round car than the Subaru hasn't driven all three. The Subaru wins hands down in terms of handling, performance, refinement and even looks. Those Fords look just so old fashioned 1980s.

Yes was referring to cs400 - opinion seems to be that price That can pick up new one now is reasonable? - that's the divorce sorted then...

...not excrement Sherlock.Like you say, what the need is the WRX and WRXd for £20-£25k that looks like the STi as per the US spec WRX rather than the non-flared arch UK spec one... not everyone wants the full blown STi but equally, you don't want your WRX to look like the run of the mill Impreza either.

I've a CS400 - got it new at a good price and really enjoy driving it. Having that performance and handling plus a full 3 year warranty appealed - I dont have the inclination to do a build your own (or indeed the skills!!!), and because of the mileage I do a full warranty was important to me.
I think its a great car - I like the interior tweaks and it really does drive and perform like a dream. Not everones cup of tea I know, but it works for me....and I can get the dog in too!!

Subaru's pricing issue is less to do with an inept marketing division, and more to do with the fact that their cars are manufactured in Japan, therefore having a JPY cost base - throwing their costs up 30% due to the hideously strong yen. What used to be a 25k car literally is a 33k car now - all due to the exchange rate. Its a tough time to be a Japanese manufacturer.
CS400 was not executed right, and should have had the fastest spooling turbo possible as opposed to a mid /high range usage spec - fine for enthusiasts but not for motoring jornos (the guys that make or break a car). Despite this, it is a hugely desirable point to point car, IMO.

My Scooby dealer on the other hand is brilliant - they went out of their way to try and help me find the right car, borrowing the Cosworth from the MD of Subaru UK to fit in with a test drive I needed.
The car has its faults, as do all cars. Doubtless there are aspects that could have had more work, but I guess the overall cost of development meant they had to draw the line somewhere.
It is faster than anything I have ever driven, handles like a dream, and I like the fact that it is a limited edition (i've number 75). I know others on here dont share my views that this is a great car, but I sure as heck love mine.
If you had a 330s then you have already lived with this kind of car, but this just takes the performance up a notch or 4 - plus with that bit of Cosworth magic. Like others on here I remember the Cosworths of the 80's and I love that I have a Subaru Cosworth now. Its not trying to be a ford from the 80's - it is what it is, and I dont get that Cosworth are anything less than happy with their end result, and neither am I.
