Default cat c on pistonheads

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/3962260.htm

seller did not disclose it was a cat c until close inspection of the vehicle followed by a hpi check. Owned from new so must have known the status of the car.

Anyone who may potentially go and see the car....this is for you.

Why can't people just be honest.

To be honest with an ad like that I wouldn't bother anyway.too many dodgy subarus nowadays.eBay and pistonheads full of them. Best place to buy is from fellow members here.

You should also report him to any of the websites in which he is selling the car.

advised him politely to state its a cat c on the advert to save potential buyers time and he said he would. That was 2 weeks ago and he still has not done so.

there is a report link in the top of the advert, click it and report him to pistonheads as he is obviously trying to rip someone off by hiding its cat c status

Cat C will be stated as so on the v5, so no need for HPi checks etc to confirm this.

(unlike Cat D which isn't stated on teh v5 )

(Point to note though, if its the current owner who wrote it off and bought it back and he still has the original V5, then it will not have been updated....but if it has the new RED V5C, which will be rolled out totally by the end of the year, then this should likely include the marker )

He,s put it on now.these insurance write off categories should be standardized. I've seen cat c with basically a few scrapes and cat d with the whole side of the car caved in.

Before I bought my Spec C (old car not current) I looked at a few JDM STi's first ... one looked like it had literally been dragged out of a pond that morning, the other had body damage. Neither declared Cat D etc before I got there, quite at the time.

strangely enough it was not stated on the v5 so something to note for future. Maybe the DVLA missed a trick by not putting it in the notes at the bottom of the log book.

3k Bargain.
