Question Ordering from USA

Tempted to order some mud flaps from Rally Tech.

I have never ordered a product from overseas, has anyone got any experience & are there any hidden charges to be aware of on top of purchasing the product?

Would appreciate your comments/help

I've ordered driving light covers: got stung for import duty and extra charge for delivery from the port to my house in the UK

Also ordered projectors for my lights, arrived within a week, NO extra charges.

I think it's the luck of the draw.

I ordered some mudflaps from USA in March, cost me £150 but had to pay Parcel Force extra £37 import duty before UK delivery.

you will get stung ordering from usa depending on the price of the mudflaps, you will have to pay, customs duty/ import vat/ courier handlng fee/ postage on top of all this. and it will sit in uk customs for around 8 days if not more while they are putting your bill together. well thats what happened with my sti genome and damd steering wheel.

cheers

ie ordered stuff from the USA this year. From order date to,pick up from parcelforce or the like varied from 10 - 20 days and yes import tax on pickup.

But still worked out much cheaper than buying from here.

Hey, I own Rallytech. We're based in Thailand not the US.

No-one that I know of has paid any import tax yet. We've been operating as an officially registered company now for 4 months and have shipped out in excess of 500 items in that time.

Items are sent using 'Thailand Post'. We don't have to fill out any form of export documents for this service. If the item is posted using FedEx, the buyer does incur some import charges.

Thailand Post delivery times to the UK are around 5-7 days.

Good luck getting your money back on postal insurance if it doesn't arrive.

Writing gift on the box doesnt work. Gifts over £40 are still liable for import VAT.

As I said: two things ordered from the USA:
Driving light covers, value £30, stung for tax and an extra UK delivery charge, adding £17.

Projector retrofit kit, value £150. Arrived in one week, neither of the above.

It's the luck of the draw.
