Question Worth claiming?

So basically some little **** has keyed my back quarter. See below

Question is, I've never claimed on my insurance in my 10 years of driving. I do have protected ncb. Is it worth me claiming to get this sorted? I did report it to the police and I have a crime number. Just don't really understand how it works. Surely you can't have more than one claim in a years policy without losing my 10yrs ncb??*

Get it sorted yourself, the hassle, stress, combined with raised insurance premium next time round probably isn't worth the going down the claim route :-(

Leave insurance for BIG claims, or third party at fault stuff.

Ask on here for a decent body shop in your area.

Defo not to claim & speak to a body shop you trust. Also some mobile unit people are very good if you know the right person. For example my friend owns a car sales business & they have tried various mobile ppl & now use the best one. These guys can be helpful if recommended and save you some big bucks at a body shop

If you claim you'd have to pay the excess, normally £350ish, and a bodyshop won't charge that much to fix that.

As people have said you would probably get it done cheaper
than your excess.

The ten years ncb doesn't mean anything to most. The normally only reward up to 5 years at which point it's capped as a rule of thumb. Normally a claim removes 2 years ncb so rather than drop down to 8 years and keeping full bonus still ( as above the 5 year cap ) you would most likely drop back to 3 years ( they take the 2 years off the 5 year cap dropping you to 3 ).....

That's just the first sting, you then have your excess, normally couple hundred plus and then any associated loadings come your next renewal.

Effectively you are hit in three ways.

Go private and keep your bonus for a big thing which I hope you never need.

Consider yourself very lucky then because most wouldn't even look at that much work for 350 Tom including me and another thing, blending half the roof

@ Donny andi,
Thats based on £100 paint and materials and 5hrs @£30ph to prep and paint 1/4 and blend into surounding panels, £250+vat is reasonable for a quality repair.

15 hrs @ £30ph + £240 paint and materials + parts + vat + a sub of about £70+vat for the glass work, you had it done very cheap.
