Do you think the number plate position is legal ? it's on the correct backing and stuff just not sure about position. Got no where else to put it anyway

No due to it part of the writing being the horizontal instead of vertical mate.
You just need to make a little bracket hanging down in the centre with a small 3/4 size plate

It's passed 2 MOT's and one stoppage by the police so I'd say he would be alright with one?
Or put it this way I'd prefer to have mine vs his for getting away with it!

On the first car,

If its an STI and therefore and import he can have a square numberplate (like an evo etc) , covering over one of the fog covers "legaly", rather than block an area of the FMIC, the same doesnt follow suit if it is a uk car this requires a standard position plate,

Prodrive rules your just a jammy bugger and getting away with a non conforming font and size is lucky

Im a fine one to talk tho I belive when I last saw you mine was stuck to the sun visior

remove the sticker on front of your bonnet and put it there small price to pay to keep your fmic clear and lots of cars have them in that position with no issues from the fuzz

^ i think the police would argue differently, i am not sure your location although can clearly be seen would be able to be picked up by ANPR. I am not 100% on this just a thought. They could argue that the Jag has it there as standard so is an exception to the rule.

The size of the plate is not the issue , as long as the spacing is correct and there is correct clearance around the letters then the overall size doesnt matter as with personal plates. However fitting a 3/4 plate with a standard registration is not legal as the spacing has been comprimised to make it 3/4 if that makes sense. [However they do look MUCH better - but not worth the potential fine]

All the better then

If you met a stickler of a traffic cop that wanted to find something he MAY pick up on the plate, that is my point really.

I prefer the hinged plates that "hang" in front of the intercooler and fold up at speed

Guess it depends what copper you get on the day, some are really good others are just overly picky :-)

Plates that are stuck on the bonnet are illegal but I doubt a copper would pull you up on it. Square plates are fine.
They get fussy when the letters are not correct size and/or spaced correctly.

However, I used this site and made my plate up using their measurements....

http://www.craigsplates.com/import-number-plates

I even asked a copper about it and he said he doesn't have an issue with my number plate.

i had the same size on plate as tommy but with normal lettering .2months of happy driving inc spot checks with traffic cops etc. then 2 bikers cops passed me in town at a roundabout, heard the copper shout hes no getting away with that. and 60quid fine later.

thats all they were interested in when they stopped me,didnt even look around the car even though i had the original in my boot,

my mate however he has the same small plate and been stopped plenty of times for it and never had any fines,
he just states his original plate is broke and in his boot and as its law to show a number plate he thought it would be better to fit the small plate until he can get to an auto shop for new plates to be made up.

It's 11"x8", correct letter sizing and spacing, manufacturer postcode and BS marking so completely road legal

Mine's 9.5"x7", manufacturer postcode and BS marking.

After their tools, probably the only decent thing to ever come from Halfords.
