Default Looked at a 2001 wrx today

Hello, this is my first post, looked at a 2001 wrx today at a local back street dealer had 89k on clock but no service stamp since 2009! Had a full new exhaust and decat, it went well, but engine light was on, the guy said they all do that with the cat removed. There was no cat with the car for the MOTs in the future!, slight vibration thru steering wheel now and again. So I have ended up here, paid up for a year, as I hope to be the owner of a wrx soon

Lots around, don't rush into buying the first you look at. Post the ad and we'll try and help with what to look for etc

Hi mine will be for sale this weekend

Mine went in for its MOT today and the garage has had to put the old system back on for it to pass the MOT. The light has come on so will have it turned off when my aftermarket system goes back on .

I will include the old exhaust with the car for future MOTs

Keep your eyes peeled in the for sale section tomorrow

Totally agree with theabove mate, leave it and keep looking. You do have to be patient and if you are not gemmed up on Subaru's like myself then get hold of someone who does or it could cost you but that goes for any car mate.

There are some good cars out there that have not been thrashed or that are sheds so keep looking and stick to a list of what you want or you will compomise too much & potentially end up with something you regret later.

Happy hunting mate

Engine light probably is on for de-cat but could be something more sinister! Unless its being given away I'd leave alone, plenty of bug wrx's at good prices that have been cared for.

So I've had it 6 months, covered 12,000 miles, apart from loads of V-power I've needed a new radiator, a new gearbox, (racing clutch added as box was out) and the bearing has gone on the turbo now! So I've spent the same as the car, but I still think its great
