Question Selling a car to somebody in France

Had my car up for sale for a week or so and have a guy from France who has offered a decent price on it.
He lives in Lille in France and wants to come over next week, pay cash and take the car for a new life on the continent!
What happens to the Logbook? Anything else to think or worry about? Except for the fact the limit of my French is bonjour and baguette!

Hi, I had a guy from France enquiring about my scooby that I've sold about a week ago. The email came from had the name Laurent on it. He kept asking about the closest airport etc. when it came down to it he asked if I could drive my car al the way down to the euro tunnel and he would pay for fuel.

That's nearly 400 miles........by that time I had sold the car. Hahaha. I wouldn't have gone down anyway.

My last car went to France, the chap paid for it in full via bank transfer without seeing it! Good as gold, as agreed, one week later he turned up at my house and drove my car back to france. Perfect sale

I sold my old Pulsar overseas. No problem. You do get the odd dodgy email, but you can tell by reading it.

His English is a bit sketchy but thats to be expected. He's asked for pictures of any defects or marks on the paintwork etc. I've done this and he came straight back with an offer for pretty much the full price.

Why do so many Scooby's end up in France? Guess they're pretty rare out there??

Sold my old p1 to a guy from the Netherlands. Probably one of the easiest sales I've ever done. Call the dvla and they will set you straight with what needs to be done. Also I wouldn't release or sign the log book until you have both driven down to your bank and you have CLEARED funds, then sign it the log book and hand the keys over. Safety first mate.

Hope it all goes well

Take the cash straight to your bank, and pay it in. Don't just rely on the pen marker. Can't stress that enough.

Once its in your bank and the teller says ok, hand keys and paperwork over... If he is a serious buyer, he should not complain about this extra step.

Would the marker not show up the notes as being dodgy then

Not always, its just a chemical reaction, and some forgeries can be sprayed with a reactant in order to make it look real.
