Default Pistonheads Scam - Be warned !

There a few cars that were recently advertised on PH that were under the Subaru Impreza WRX section that were actually STI's.

One was a 2007 Silver Hawkeye STI that only had one picture claiming very low mileage, link was here http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3668271.htm with a link inside the advert to this http://home.comcast.net/~slapnuts69/subaru.html.

I emailed the suspect seller whilst the advert was alive to see what bait they were using, and its the same old tactics I have copied the reply below,

I have posted this for potential buyers to please use extreme caution when searching/buying a car, just a friendly warning that scammers are still out there

Hi,
The car is still available for sale,it is in extremely good condition,100% HPI Clear, full service history.Currently I am on a business trip to Australia and will have to stay here for about 6 months (this is why I am selling the car for a low price and I am looking for a fast sale to finance the Australian project )
I left the car in PistonHeads custody and they will handle the sale for me.The V5 log book is already signed on my behalf, the car will come with 2 keys, all service records and previous MOT's. PistonHeads will deliver the car directly to your home address and I will pay all delivery expenses.
I am waiting your reply if you are still interested in buying the car so I can provide you the contact details for the PH department that handles the sale, many thanks
Sandra

Completely random but I recognise where the photos were taken!

That is near the Port on Portland. You can see the walls to Portland Castle in the background in a lot of the shots.

I don't recognise the car from any of the Dorset Clubs though.

Erm, is that scammer using his own webspace to put up the advert!?

Comcast are a American ISP and usually only give webspace for their customers.

Of course, it could be a inncocent account thats had the password cracked by a trojen keylogger. Back in the day I used to configure my firewall to block all network traffic to and from comcast's IP ranges becuase of the amount of port probing that I kept getting from their customer's virus infected computers.

Any chance this thread could be moved off this section? I for one didn't pay to advertise in the section to have my car listed amongst pistonhead scammers

Sorry, didn't realise it was wrongly posted in the sales section (found it via the new posts function).

Now moved to correct place (Rob FYi: the sales section isn't supposed to be for conversations etc ).

The same middle class white people who believe that they have a Nigerian cousin who handles all of the Presidents defence contracts. Cast the net wide enough and you will find someone that stupid!

Anyway I've got to go now, there's a hot blonde Russian girl waiting to book her flight here once I've Western Union'd her the money for the airfare.
