should i charge the garage??
okay so ive received my car back from the garage.
as you guys know, my front end had a complete re-spray and wheels re-furbed not long ago
the garage had to strip my engine, plus another job was to fit my braided brake hose.
when i picked up the the car saturday, it was really dirty so i didnt knotice any damage. cleaned the car today, and found the damage
a few chips on the wing, and an alloy has been chipped (skirt was actually loose but just clipped back in place)
i dont want to be a bad customer and give the garage bad rep, and i know he had to take the engine and wheels out/off.
but what do you guys think
cheers

as said before on here, before posting up something like this on a forum, try phoning the company first and seeing what they have to say.you say the car was dirty when you got it back?.was it dirty when it went to the garage or have they been driving it.was it the garage that recovered the car or was it a recovery firm?.if it was another recovery firm, could they have done it when loadening it onto the lorry?

This isnt acceptable and the sole reason I am not too keen on letting garages do any work on my cars, obviously with major work like this a garage cannot be avoided.
It's worth a quick phone call back to them , let's hope the reply isn't "it was like that when you brought it in" - I can't help thinking it will be though

I've had damage from one of the tuners on here. Although to be fair they did offer to polish the scratches out, but it would have cost me more in fuel to go there and back, so I just did it myself.

I had a similar thing when i collected my evo from a tuner, not so much damage but very annoying, when i picked up my car it was parked underneath another that was raised right up and leaking oil on to my roof and dripping down the windows.
But in your case i'd just ring up, but cant imagine there admit to anything.

I can confirm the bodywork and wheels were in immaculate condition. I'm
Very careful with my bodywork and wheels. I did text him but he has ignored me
Plus he has left one of the breathers on the oil catch can open, I'd expect after paying good money that the minimum that he could do was just to run another hose into atmosphere.
Tracking is off and he's says it's because it raise the suspension, never had this issue before. Also have adjusted the coilovers and the tracking is well out.

Well Im a mechanic, and if a car came into our garage and we damaged something we would sort it, no question about it, give him a ring, be polite and see what he says, chances are he will be willing to sort it bud..
Maybe he doesnt do texting?

name and shame!
and keep us updated as to how/if this is resolved with the garage.
if people cant be bothered to take care of your car when you leave it with them we can only avoid giving them our custom.

He's not interested, obviously. Time to turn up the heat...
Thing is these situations are ****ers, as there's no 'evidence' - just your word against his. Reminds me of that scene in Liar Liar where 'Fletcher' collects his Merc from the garage.

So he won't accept responsibility. Don't really want to name and shame but it's been a very bad experience. If you want to know the name of the garage, I have a thread on the projects section
When he asked me for payment, I transferred money pretty much immediately.

take him to small claims then
mount your evidence and present it
can you prove it was them that did it tho?
I had the same problem, the undertray on my hatch was cut purposely, for some unkkown reason which caused the front arch liner to split (only found out cause after I bought a new one to fit and compare
couldnt prove it was the dealers mechanics that did it although they were only ones to have worked on car!!!
sucks!!!
hope you can get something sorted
p.s. name and shame on here, if its on projects then dont matter on here too

There was also another time when I wanted to go pick up my gauge pod from my car, organised a visit to the garage on a Saturday and he said he will be there til midday. Took me hour and half to get there, get to the garage and he's not there, waited half an hour whilst calling and texting him with no response. End up leaving and on the way home I got a text saying he forgot. That's another thing which have made me open this thread

When I had my engine rebuilt by one of the big tuners on here, I recieved it back and noticed the whole car was covered in a dusting of red overspray, every inch of the car had to be clay bared, it came off in the end but you would think places like this would take a bit more care with other peoples property. I suggest you ring them for a chat rather than texting.

I delt with Neil before, And I know how much of a perfectionist he is. Simon JGM gave me this number and said he had a low lorry and I thought I might as well try this garage
But will be going back to Neil Slowboy in the future, or rich FB tuning

Wiley - why not ring him or go and see him face to face. Its entertaining to see how people react differently when you approach them in person.
When you visit be polite and professional and put your point across and see where you get to. It MAY get you nowhere but you will feel a little better about having tried to resolve it further?
Just an idea..personally i wouldnt be happy with the text reply you got and would go down this route.

Texting a customer seems very unprofessional to me imo. If they can not be bothered with the very least a phone call, that would be more than enough to put me off.
Does seem to be the common trend these days though, places hiding behind emails etc and customer service seems to have gone out the window!

Would do if he was local. He's an hour and half away which means £50 on petrol. I'm always polite and professional, but I don't think there will be any point and just a wasted journey. I'll take some pics up later of the damage of the paintwork, alloys and skirt

i have found some of the big well known tuners actually have quite bad reputations in their local areas.i have had mine botched and parts superglued together and told after waiting an extra 3 hours for my car they had put new part on....well next day on A38 big bang and guess what pipe blown off.went back to tuner to be told "you need to buy a new pipe mate" when i suggested it was his fault for breaking it and not fixing it properly in the first place he got ****ty and said fine and walked off.when i picked car up from being fixed he said i have an old car so wasnt really his fault.even had crappy messages on here from him about it until i said i would post message in a thread to show what he is like.lot of places are very arrogant.
