Default V1 STi Wagon Chipping advice?!? NoOb

Hi,

iv'e just joined scoobynet as ive just purchased my first scooby! as i must say after being in a few over the years i had to have one!!,

If possible im after a bit of advice about upping the power a bit?

The Spec,
Its a 1994 Import Genuine STi Wagon
Full Decat Exhaust
72'000 Km's
Rays magnesium Alloys
Cusco Lsd's
Walbro 255 Fuel pump
HKS SSQV3 dump valve
HKS Panel filter and resonator removed
Short shift
Currently boosts to just over 14psi

My question is im looking for an ecu chip to up the power a bit and after doing some research it seems STi have already chipped the ecu as the socket space already has a chip in and when i googled the number it comes as an sti chip!

However id quite like to fit a polar performace chip or similar thus giving me 16psi of boost ish and with a better fuel map meaning i can run the Uk's crap fuel without having to use octane booster all the time lol,

i know of the other options eg simtek, ESL live daughterboard etc, but im looking for a cheaper alternative if possible and i have the knowledge and experience to fit a chip socket and chip myself,

Can anyone advise where to get a chip from? or has anyone got one lying around?

ive looked on ebay but all i can find really are pre chipped ecus and a 'eclipse performance' chip which at £50 is sure to be trouble!!

Any help is greatly appreciated Guys,

Cheers!!

Chips are not great, better off going ESL or Apexi remap tbh. If the car is running well I wouldn't get a 16psi chip (at best) when you are already running over 14psi

Cheers for the quick reply mate, How much would i be looking for just the esl board? and what would i realistically have to do to achieve 300bhp?

I think the daughter boards are in the region of £500, but I'm not sure if that includes mapping.

ESL is about £500, Apexi is similar but second hand

Have a look at mine...

You need to address the topmount, injectors to achieve a true 300 regardless of Dyno Proven cars

when you say address the top mount do you mean fitting a front mount or upgrading to a later model top mount?,

injectors wise is 440cc adequate? i mean i dont want silly power just a reliable and safe 300bhp would be nice,

oh and gotta say your wagon is very nice puts mine to shame thats for sure lol!

Your current 380 injectors wont see more than 290 and your topmount will be ineffective above this aswell 440's and a FMIC or uprated TMIC are preferred, I run an ARC topmount which is good

The ESL board is 295+VAT direct, or £550 fitted and mapped.

Haha very true! think im going to go front mount as the price is similar to an arc topmount if not a tad cheaper and i imagine a frontmount would perform a little better and i dont really believe in it creating too much more lag as a turbo shifts 150 litres of air per second so whats a few litres of piping going to do lol

53,
In the picture of your bay you've got an earthing kit...
Was thinking about getting one... Is it worth it? Notice any difference?
