New Sooby...new brakes?
Hi guys
First post but been reading for a while. Thanks to recommendations on here, insurance is with Keith Michaels and the car is currently in the hands of Scooby Works for a seeing over.
I used to have a WRX but had to sell it a few years back. Since then I wanted to get back behind the wheel of a Scoob, and a few weeks ago I bought a 2005 STI with the Prodrive pack.
Resprayed White with some body work changes, will upload some pics when I get the car back!
I have a question though. Amongst the many things need doing on it, the break discs and pads need replacing.
On my old car I started off with group N discs (can't remember specific name) and Ferodo DS2500 pads. They lasted about 20 mins on the track
After that I think they stuck the same discs back on but with Ferodo DS3000 pads.
I'm thinking about getting the DS3000s fitted again, as they were mint, unless there are any decent new alternatives?
However, can anyone recommend any good discs? They need to be pretty tough for track use....
Looking at Tarox Sport or Brembo Performance? Any feedback or thoughts on those? Or anyone who has got a decent setup that works well on track that they would like to share....
Cheers!
Dave

Thanks, so something like http://www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk/~god...id_product=142 is looking pretty unanimous at the moment!

Well, its taken a while!
Scoob has been in the garage pretty much constantly for the last 2 months thanks to the person I bought it from 'forgetting' to mention that they had crashed it and used a team of blind monkeys to botch it back together to sell to the next mug (me!)
New wheel hub assemblies, bearings, trailing arms etc etc (front and rear) and a lot of time measuring and aligning from the scoobyworld team, and she is now back to being perfect!
They fitted the new discs and pads too (went for Orange Stuff) and they do seem decent (especially for the price compared to ferodo), have yet to try them on track though! I think that at the moment if anything its going to be the crappy tires that let them down...but having spent all the budget on just getting her fixed, new shoes are going to have to wait!
Cheers for the advice...

I went for Godspeed 2 piece front discs and they are spot on. A bit more expensive than the 1 piece but at least in future the bells can be reused with new discs. Just got to get a set of grooved rear ones now to match.
