Default A risk worth taking?

I've been offered some second hand internals (5000m). Yes i know, new is going to obviously be better but the price for Crank/Rods/Pistons is what i have waiting to buy just Pistons/Rods.
Am i simply an impatient sod....?

It's a risk not worth taking IMHO, just save a bit longer and buy quality new parts.

Buy cheap buy twice........

I know, its very tempting though. Obviously it'd need new rings and bearings and they'd be checked when the block's rebored/machined.

Make sure you do it right the first time then with the 2.5 engine and buy new. Speak to Advanced Automotive as they are very good with prices also it might be worth looking into converting your block into a CDB

Mines a CDB to begin with. The parts are coming out of an ODB as the owner's just sourced an EJ22T.

What car and engine do you currently have? I was under the impression it was a 2.5 hence my CDB advice.......

Its a 93/94 WRX CDB 2 litre which will be rebored to 2.1. These forged parts are also from a 2.1. Project threads here....

The pistons/rods will cost me £650 imported from the US, and a crank around £500. This crank/rods/pistons will be £500.

As long as you make sure they are ok i don't see any reason not to, there will always be naysayers especially on here, but as long as everything is ok and within tollorance, the naysayers won't be able to give a valid reason why not.

There are many time attack / race cars that just have a refresh which means new rings and bearings and bolt it back up.

Nothing wrong with that, and save a quite a few quid too.

Thats kind of my thinking, as long as parts are tested they will not make it into the block if anything's wrong.
