Sti 8 scoops look chavvy mate, plus they are flimsy and flex at high speed.

Yea I think your right!

I love sti8 scoops on sti8's but just can't decide if I like them on bug's which probably means I don't lol

Flex doesn't sound too clever either.

comments about flex are on the money for sure , i backed off at 100 the other day as it looked like it was about to blow into pieces ? but personally dont mind the look of em on new age cars just not classics ? here mine anyway , may be swapping with someone for oem soon hopefully

no flex in mine up to around the 150 mark. Mine isnt there for looks. The difference in charge temos fron the earlier smaller original scoop is pretty amazing. I've had this on 5 or so years no so cant remember exact figuire. But at the time of fitting i swapped between the two scoops and measures I/C temps and the later 2003 model scoop is far better.

I havent tested what its doing areodynamicaly (spelling) but i have measured and compared charge temps with both 2002 and the bigger 2003 scoop. certainly from my temp guage plumbed into the i/c temps are lower with the bigger one. More importantly when they get high from sitting still in traffic the temps cool much quicker with the bigger scoop once on the move

That's what i was wondering as i assume the STi7 bonnet is a different shape to the 8 so didn't know if the scoop would have the desired effect - aerodynamics and all that blah blah blah.......
I've seen it a few times on here when people have removed the backing plate for instance off their classic bonnet vents and claim they have reduced the under bonnet temps but as they haven't tested it they don't realise they achieved precisely the opposite

its bigger so more air and more air is a good thing if anything its gonna perform better than sti 7 its obvious ! as for the looks its a personal opinion as is everything .

The bonnet is different too is it not?

No - not obvious. Like i alluded to in an earlier post, it would seem obvious that removing the bonnet vent back plates on a Classic would return lower under bonnet temps but quite the opposite is true.

i would of thought subaru would of tested it?
Just going back to this one - you would have thought that Subaru tested the Classic in excess of 100mph but the fact that the scoop is all but useless over 100mph would suggest otherwise???

I don't dispute it has a bigger opening and it "could" let more air in and in all fairness i'd be hugely surprised if it doesn't, i was simply asking the question does it? Maybe because of the aerodynamics of the front of a V7, the extra space of the Scoop is not taken advantage of??? However unlikely, it is entirely possible as aerodynamics are a funny old game
