After the awsome Scoobycity track day on Saturday at RAF Bentwaters I've decided that I simply MUST get more time on track. However I also love my Scooby too much to do her any damage.
Sooooo.
I'm on the look out for a suitable car to buy. I don't wanna spend a fortune as I realise its gonna cost me an arm and a leg just on track fee's each month so I'm looking to spend under £2000 if poss.
I've already found a ready to race XR3I with a brand new body shell and complete spare car for £1500. So obviously race prepared cars are'nt alot of money to buy but I want to shop around first so if anyone has any website links or mags to buy with this type of thing for sale please let me know.
I just went out and got Autosport Mag but there was nothing cheap in there.
It does'nt have to be race prepared just quick, semi decent handling and cheap on initial outlay and parts.
Possible options so far are:
A beat up old Pug 205 1.9
or (dare I say it) An XR3I or XR2I
An unfinished kit car (westfield style)
Anyone think of some more options?

Delta 1.6 HF ?
Does it handle? I mean it's Italian but is it suited for the track? Also, if the turbo goes out goes cheap fun with it. Someone told me never to touch an old turbo, wise guy probably (or rather rich)
Erm, Subaru Legacy? (oops, turbo)

What about a Mk2 16v golf? plenty of them aroound and fairly reasonble too!
i had one with lowered H/R spring/dampers on and it handled very well. not the fastes thing around but cheap to mod and plety of places do parts and they are reliable.
Tha thought has crossed my mind too and thats what id go for!

Personally if its going to be used for trackdays only find yourself a rear wheel drive car. Much more fun

You want a Pug 205 (1.6 or 1.9) or XR2i - parts are plentiful and chaep (xr2i cheaper)and both race in stock hatch so there are normally decent race prepared cars with decent Leda susp etc + all the safety equip for around £2-3.......I've got a semi race prepared 1.6 205 which I'm toying with selling for about £1k - bang in a Mi16 engine and you got a scoob challenger!

Someone has recomended I get a Triumph TV8 hardtop.
Has anyone any opinions on these?
All I know is that they are V8 rear wheel drive and lightweight. So it does sound good but under £2000 ???? and Where ???

i say the 205 1.9 is a good choice !!
handling is fantastic for a front wheel drive car!!
and i just happen to have one for sale! (bog std though)
i planned on putting n02 in mine but cant find anywhere that can supply the solenoids and fogger jets for decent prices!
