Smile Sweeping dials....

Hi everyone, i've searched on here, SIDC and Scoobypedia and can't get a definitive answer to this one.

Today my new car arrived on a transporter from Litchfield Imports, JDM STI Hawkeye on a 55 plate (still showing as for sale on the web site). The owners handbook says the dials have operational lightup/sweep as an on/off option but i can't get it to work. Does the JDM Hawkeye have it?
I've read somewhere it's a cluster out job and it resets the odometer!
If so why is it in the car operation manual....

If anyone can help cheers!

Is it a spec C? As far as I am aware all JDMs do have these dials bar the spec c....

Mine certainly does, but I have also heard it can be turned on and off

I have spoken to Iain Litchfield about this in the past, as I thought it was a quick software hack in Ecutek etc to enable it, but that wasn't the case.

The clocks/dashboard part have to come out and I believe a part is added. On Iain's original T25 website, in the available extras there was a "Spec C Dashboard dials sweep" for about £90. Link here http://www.type-25.com/pdf/MY07_Type25_options.pdf

The youtube link belongs to CallumW and was for certain a Spec C, as I remember commenting on the sweep action when I saw him at Silverstone a while back.

It's not a Spec C, I take it it's the blue LM400 JDM Sti Hawk, so theoretically could be programed to sweep. Try holding down the trip reset button
while turning on ignition

From the owners manual
http://i1022.photobucket.com/albums/...nersmanual.jpg

Translation:

Heres what it says:

Initializing the Indicating needle
For red luminescent and white luminescent, upon turning the engine switch to "On", all 4 meter indicating needles will indicate the maximum and then immediately return. (excluding STI spec C)

Setting Method
STI indicating needle can be set or deactivated using the method below.
1. When the engine switch is at "ON", and REV Indicator Setting **** is turned either to the right or left, setting or deactivating can be done by pushing the Trip Switch/Trip Meter Reset ****.
When this is done, the buzzer will sound and the external temperature display will change to the initial start-up display. The initial start-up mark and "ON", or "--" will be displayed.

https://www.scoobynet.com/866705-jdm...t-sweep-2.html as ste_brough has posted.

Still don't know why some Spec Cs have the sweep from new though...Maybe the importer programmed it

Lovely motor mate. Seen it a few times. Very quick and should be a smooth drive! Congrats!
You should be able to get the dials to sweep with all the instructions above but if you're not winning give Iain/Matt a quick call.

Davey L,
Congrates on your new purchase.

Word of personal advice..... get the whiteline adjustable top mounts, rear uprated arb and alk fitted. Along with a geometry set-up, it will transform that car.

I drove it some months back and compared to mine, the "feel" was a country mile apart.

will do
i plumbed a new headunit in yesterday and being a dvd/monitor it's wired into the handbrake.... Doubt it's that cos i've done a few of them and never had this problem but i'll check it out tomorrow. Fitted one to my blobeye ages ago and that's fine.

Well it was the wire from the handbrake to the headunit causing it. I'll have to find a way round it i suppose!

Good advice here, done the same to mine but added the front arb too as well as f+r drop link.
Car is now night and day!!

Anymore progress yet Shaun?
Or are we now happy with the lm450?

Bit of thread resurrection.... but i don't care.

The whiteline kit was ordered today and should be fitted by Friday. Front and rear adjustable anti-roll bars, anti-lift kit and adjustable top mounts. Got to be done before the highland fling so the sooner the better as far as i'm concerned. Cheers for the tips guys

That wire is to stop you watching dvd's on the head unit while the handbrake is in the off possition. Shouldn't effect anything else.

Yeah, the handbrake light thing doesn't worry me. I'll sort it out when i can be bothered. The dvd works the 'legal' way i just disconnected the cable to to the handbrake when it had it's MOT at the start of the month.
