How much are Hawks gonna drop??
Hello,
I know I'm new but I've probably been reading these forums for over 1 year without actually posting or registering an account but that's only because I feel as if I shouldn't be posting because I don't own a Subaru (lol).
I'm 21 years old and have been interested in Subarus for the past 2/3 years and will defiently be buying next year.
I was wondering if someone could give me a prediction based on their experiences and give me an idea of how much (or if anything) Hawkeyes will drop to? I have a decent amount of money which I will be putting towards and I've been looking on Pistonheads for the past 6 months and a nice 2006/2007 BLUE Hawkeye PPP with 30k odd miles stands at £11k-12k tops.
EDIT: I've noticed that this is kinda like an introduction as well so hey ...Like I said I'm 21, have a full time job working for my Father, and own a Peugeot 206 which has been my baby since before I was 17 and able to drive ...however, it's a quicksilver edition which makes it all the more acceptable I have probably read these forums along with SIDC and IWSTI twice over and am an active reader.

Ive seen the for a little as 9k these days. I think Insurance will be your main problem. The specialists like you to be over 25 and have a years experience on turbos apart from anything else ncd ,claim free, no points, parked on drive , decent postcode etc etc..

I have always been on my Fathers "fleet insurance" which is tied with our farming business which has tractors and family vehicles of all sorts on there which works out very cheap for me and my age ...luckily for me
Edit: 9k wow? Where are you looking? I've been checking pistonheads pretty much a few times every week. Would you expect to see a futher gradual drop come in a few months time or simply stand at that? Only decent ones Ive seen are £11kish and a bit more

some hawks sti go for around 9k now, i paid 13k for mine about a year ago, and its worth every penny, got no intention to sell so who cares about resale value right now, grab a bargain as long as ur insurance can cover it, its had about 5k mods since

Hi Mate,
I bought my hawk sti 2006 in may this year. It had 44k on the clock and i picked it up for 11k she is absolutely mint.
I too was 21 at the time (turned 22 a few weeks later).
The main thing to worry about is insurance at this age.
I, like you did as much research before taking the plunge. Whilst saving the cheapest insurance quote i was getting was £1700 with 5 year licence length, 3NCB, 1 crash against in 2007 and 3 points in 2006 - Not F*ing bad aye?
However a couple of months before buying i got caught texting in traffic and sadly the insurance increased to £2800
I had to bite the bullet and pay the consequence for my mistake.
Just be aware that the second you mention to insurers on the phone that your going to mod it youll be laughed all the way to the dial tone. As mentioned, unless your with a specialist they not want to know, and all specialist require 25+.
Thankfully my insurer increased my premium by £80 to put my catback on a couple of months ago.
My advice is to not rush into it. Keep looking, and maybe take a peak into the late blobs. Theyll be a couple of g's cheaper, possibly be a few hundred pounds cheaper to insure (at least was in my case) and lastly not throw a nasty suprise like the HG problems that the hawks (and mine in particular) suffer from.
Good Luck

I think all scooby will go down, as yet again there is another rise in petrol in January, £0.03, and another £0.04 in June I believe.
But I'll tell you something, I WON'T be selling my blobeye!
Good luck with your purchase and welcome.

Come spring time next year you will be able to pick up a hawk sti for circa £7k no problem..
But if i were you i would forget the uk 2.5 and go for a jdm 2.0l higher spec, stronger engine and cheaper to tax and i doubt the insurance is anymore.
And when it comes to modding over the next few years you will have the best base car.
My personal choice would be a spec c which is in your budget..

They are dropping. Guy on here opted for scrapping his mint 56 hawkeye sti cos it was an easier and more profitable option than selling.
Strange times we are in! Best not to check the second hand values it will only make you cry. I bought mine to enjoy and drive every day and have no intention of selling!

My mate has just traded his 56 plate sti for £6k so next year you should be able to buy one private for not much more than this. The problem is that they are all advertised way above what they are actually worth, shop around as you'll be spoilt for choice. If I didn't own a scoob, I'd defo be buying one at the prices they are !!
