Import Car Parts
I have been meaning to clean my IACV and I would need to replace the gasket. So I search the t'inter web with the part number and up pops the Import Car Parts site with the part at a very reasonable price, in fact between 3 and 4 quid cheaper than anyone else. I go through the registration process then go to checkout and the delivery was a whopping £2.40.
For a gasket that has less rubber than a midgets condom, I thought this excessive so I rang them.
"Hello, I'm trying to order an IACV gasket for an Impreza, and it comes up with £2.40. Is this right?"
"Yes"
a pause while I gather myself after that shock.....
"Ok.......um, is that the only postage option as it is a small item?"
"Yes"
....which is where I realised I was getting nowhere, so I ordered it off Simpsons of Highworth. Maybe £1.50 dearer but I'm not being bent over for postage to the sum of £2.40 for an envelope at 20p and postage at 50 odd pence.
No wonder the gasket was cheap.

Not being funny mate but Import car parts stuff is normaly on your doormat the next morning, I use them all the time and I pay the extra we bit for the postage and its there the next day without fail, I live in the Aberdeenshire countryside too so that is impressive delivery.
My partner runs a small Jewellery business and it costs about £3.00 to post a ring so its not import car parts fault its the post office mate.
Be interesting to see how quick your part turns up mate let me know would you...

What lengths did I go to? Ringing another seller and getting it sent to my house? If you regard that as lengths, you must be one lazy hamster. Try running round in your wheel for a bit, maybe thatll give you some get up and go.
Thanks for the congratulations though, made my day.

I wish I could have, but hey ho, I dont mind spending the extra and not being bent over, and ICP are not going to go into liquidation due to my choice, so all is good.

Mark (ICP) is an absolute star, I reckon he posts stuff out before you've ordered it as it gets delivered that fast!! I would pay extra (not that you need to) to buy from him rather than somewhere else as he is that quick!!

Yep have to defend Import car parts yet again, mentioned it on here yesterday and will say it again in my opinion they are one off the best / cheapest sources off genuine gaskets etc for your subaru. the service I had off them in both terms off delivery as well as customer service was actually outstanding.

Its just with import car parts the reason you pay more for the postage is it always arrives the next morning, pay less takes longer.
But if you are in no hurry it dont matter I suppose.
I was just curious to see if the company you ordered it from could provide the same service for the slightly less postage that they gave you that's all mate..

Its the principle, the envelope no doubtr weighs more than the gasket.
