Thumbs up

The weekend before last (i.e. less than two weeks ago) my beloved scooby caught fire. I was not impressed. I called Direct Line who removed the car the very next morning, had written it off within four days and I received a cheque for 97% of it's market value (I was pretty happy with that) today, less than two weeks after it caught fire.

WELL DONE DIRECT LINE INSURANCE.

Kinda restores one's faith in humanity.

Maz.

p.s. Looking for a new obstacle to take up my driveway. MY99, less than 45k, sonic blue if possible.

That's great news. It sounds like you've had a much better experience with your insurers than many.

I've booked myself a test drive in a new STI next week - do you think you could stretch to a MY00 with PPP and 17" wheels? One careful owner...

I'd definitely think about it! I know how you treat your pride and joy. If you ever do sell it, let me know. What are the 17" alloys? Can't remember...

Does the Stereo come with it?!?!?

We are insured with Direct Line and when we needed assistance they were very quick and helpful.

It's good news anyway, we all know how somethings like this can drag on for months.

Somebody once ran in front of my car on a dual carriageway and I hit them. No major damage done to pedestrian or car but I could have made a film called "Carry on Insurance Claiming" from the farce I had dealing with Direct Line over it.

They're Prodrive PD7s - pic here.

I believe the STI requires a double DIN head unit, so my old stereo might well stay in the car.

Andy,

Email me off line if you're seriously thinking about unloading your old bird for an STi-7! Also, I wouldn't mind those alloys in anthracite - were'd you get 'em?

I got the wheels from Adams Subaru in Aylesbury. I bought them just after I helped organise last year's group buy of the PPP, so I was in their good books at the time. They gave me a generous (and rare!) discount

You could always get them repainted - a couple have picked up a few scrapes and could do with refurbishment if you're picky - but I've also thought about putting my old 16" wheels back on, and selling the Prodrive ones separately.

Mrs C has been out looking for new motorbikes today, so maybe I wouldn't get in that much trouble
