Default Wot I Did On My Summer Hollidays...

Booked a return ferry trip a fortnight apart, and just jumped in the car and followed the road less travelled...

Visited (in order) France, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, France, Italy, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium and (finally) France.

We've put 3000 beautiful/boring, twisty/straight, high/low, bumpy/smooth B road/autobahn miles on our WRX and had one of the best holidays ever. We drove the highest graded mountain pass in Europe the Col De I'Iseran, the Col De Galiber, the Stelvio pass, and best of all (IMHO) The Grossglockner high alpine road. Plus we threw in a trip to the ring and stopped in Munich, Turin, Trier and Ypres.

Best holiday since my Honeymoon. Pictures to follow...

Anyone want to tell me what I missed out on? What's all this about riots?

Bet you had fun!

I did nearly the same the year before! Used a hell of a lot of fuel, but it was the best holiday I had! We drove for between 4-6 hours a day, had a look round where we were, went out for a meal/got drunk, and did the same the next day. Took us 3 week in total, but was fantastic!

Sounds like perfect trip, because Stelvio pass and The Grossglockner roads are roads which every petrol head must visit.

About the fuel bill, you are living only once...

I've always fancied taking my car across to the continent but I've always been worred about the availability of super unleaded?

Never had a problem with finding Super unleaded in the areas I've been to. All the shell garages have always had V-Power and there seem to be a lot more shell garages around than over here. In Germany even unheard-of-branded garages were carrying 98RON Super unleaded.
