Oh My God! new member bought a scooby!
Hey guys I have always wanted a scooby.I have had friends that have had them.I have always loved that 4 pot roar.Anyway I recently saw a bit of a dog on ebay and put in a bid.I am 37 and thought stuff it why not?!!The mrs mum bless her died at 42 and I thought live for today!I won the scooby and WOW!! it didn't disappoint!
Its a wagon? n reg 193000 miles but starts first time and absolutely flies!
It has a private plate and I am looking in to how to remove and sell it.
The car has no mot or tax so my mate (mot tester)will be looking at it tommorow but there are loads of upgrades on it so if it is uneconomical to mot
I know I can get the purchase price plus profit from the upgrades and private plate.
Anyway just wanted to say hello and cant believe you can get such an amazing car for such little money!
Any advice much welcomed
cheers tony

The main issue could be emissions depending on what mods have been done. I have heard about friendly MOT's but cannot advise on any. LOL. Depends on how good a mate you have I hear small engined cars are good!!

With that kinda mileage hopefully you didn't pay much. Be a good project car if you wanted something for keeps.
There is a member on here (Dave D I think) whose early classic saloon ticked over 200,000 miles a while ago on it's original engine/box.

Hey guys thanks for the warm welcome! Doesn't look like I will be here long though!Perhaps its not time for me to have my Scooby.Due to various **** ups from me and not doing enough research.I am a impulsive! The good news -The car doesn't need that much work for MOT a bit of welding and a bit of the front exhaust.
The bad news I didn't realise you couldn't use your no claims on a second car so insurance quotes are way way more than I expected.Putting the car back on the road is a little out of reach for me at the moment. Also as someone else on here mentioned I can't remove the private reg(worth about £1000) unless I MOT tax and insure the car.Ithought I could sell the plate to raise some money to help finance repair etc. Can't believe it.I thought if worse came to worse I could break the car and remove the plate that way but that looks like a no no.Stupid rules in my opinion.
Anyway could I kindly ask your advice as the best way to proceed now?Should I try and sell the car on as a whole or break the car for parts? It has some almost brand new alloys on it 17's with toyos.555 seats, bailey dump valve, uprated front brakes, samco hoses, rear light lenses etc.And if I break would you sell the engine and gearbox(quickshift do they all have them as standard) as a whole or remove parts from the engine.
Any advice very much appreciated. And I will be back one day!!!!

Cheers everyone I haven't given up yet.Going to try and do some of the work myself and shut myself away for an afternoon and shop around for the insurance(Admiral multicar came up with 1800!!)
I will probably be getting on your nerves with my technical questions very soon!!
For now I am enjoying reading up on the forum and trying to learn.
