Posted this in the general technical, but need a reply tonight.
On the way home from work tonight, i noticed the speedo flickering when i was driving at about 30. Went out in it again 5 minutes later to see if it still did it and it completely stopped working.
Firstly, are the speedo's electronic (UK 4-door MY98 Turbo)?
And what could be the problem?
Hope someone can help!
Cheers, Mark.
ps. Anyone know what the revs are at 30mph in 4th gear?!

looking at the final reductaion figures from SIDC FAQ it looks like u'd do 1588.14187400741132874536791953415rpm if their figures r exact
Regards the speedo i saw u had sum tips 4 possible problems on yer technical thread but if it's broke as my rev counter was, although self inflicted while doing white dial thing then let me know as i have a long list of scooby breakers if u need 2 get a new speedo, although i guess u legally cant hang around waiting so much with da speedo
& yes the speedo wood b electrical in the sense that it wood have a plug in the back rather than a pul wire typa thing i believe I think i'm right anyhow but have been known 2 make slight errors
Good luck then

So another fort (wow 2 in a short span gora b record 4 me) might be a loose connection at a guess as a possibility but i know when i had 2 unplug em at the back they were pretty well stuck in with release clipy things so shudn't think it's that simple

Have you got any idea where the fuse for the speedo is?
Guy in the technical forum had the same problem and just cleaned the fuse. Checked both fuse boxes, but neither has a seperate fuse for the spedo.
To check the connections, would i have to take glass out the front of the dash? Sounds tricky...hope it's the fuse!!!
Cheers, Mark.

Just encountered the same problem on MY98 sport.
Its at the dealers now being amended and yes the speedos are electronic, however I to could not find a fuse for it.
hopefully will be fixed by tomo morn, although I am very reluctant to give back the WRX curt car they have given me. BOO HOO !

The main plug in bits r actually at the back of the dash pod, at least on me MY97 so aint just a glass removal thing is an entire unit with plugs which go in the back on mine which is actually pretty easy, did have a site but aint workin at da minute
Anyway hopefully not necessary though if it's this fuse thing but there i shall plead ignorance, que needing sum1 who knows wot they're on about

PJ,
Can you let me know what the problem was when you get it back.
Wouldn't wanna take it to the dealer, but if i get a wrx for a day i might change my mind!
Cheers,
Mark.

I reckon it's number 15 fuse, at least that's what mine is on MY97. Apologies for the slow response. According to the manual I have, it's marked as meter and is also the fuse for the Airbag warning light.

Something strange going on, but it's working!!!
Checked the manual and it says there are 21 fuses and 15 is the meter. But on my car there are only 19 and 15 is the wipers...no sign of the meter fuse.
Took them all out and made sure they were clean and not blown. Didn't think it would have fixed it, but good excuse for a quick drive...and it worked!
Cheers guys,
Mark.
