Am I write in thinking the ppp comes with boost solenoid as standard anyway?

Don't be too caught up with headline power and torque figures. It's the space under the line that matters. It'll be a nice quick road car at that level.

for a track car a set of guages is a must, oil temp, pressure and boost. Oil temps will prob be an issue hence the oil cooler comment above. But you need to know about them or you'll fry something.

Prodrive pretty much redesigned the entire engine layout and did you see where they put the intercooler?
On grp n cars it's still in it's standard position and some of those race in desert type conditions.

group N rules don't allow it to be changed. if they could have, they would.

GRP N homologation meant the TMIC could not be changed and since I don't hear of those types of rally cars ripping their ***** out because of the TMIC, I would suggest it aint a problem at the type of power level discussed here.
However... for increased cooling efficiency for track use, a FMIC would certainly aid rather than eqaul that of a TMIC for sustained track use.
However, assuming the car is mapped appropriately and you perhaps upped the octane rating with octane booster for track use, but only had it mapped for normal fuel (i.e. increased safety for knock), I can't see any issues at this level for track use (without using a FMIC). OK... you may lose a few BHP when things get hot, but that's up to the OP whether he thinks that risk is worth the cost outlay.

The last two trackdays in warmish weather the car struggled after a few laps. The ic spray was on constantly. The intake temp was too high and it wasn't as though it was 30 degrees outside either.
