Second hand parts (loads of breakers around) and shop around for best labour rates. I would have been in a similar position when I purchased mine a few years back. Except for the fact that I had a full mechanical/body inspection report done - knocked over a £1000 off the final agreed price. Hopefully you bought from a reputable source and have some come back.

Lol welcome to the wonderful world of scooby ownership
He obviously misheard you when you said you were from ballymoney
And thought you said iv'e got a bag of money dont worry too much as you wont have it for long if you go to the main stealers
But seriously if you only had it 8 days then get it back to the dealer you bought if off.
I'd also try and source the parts second hand. and the shocks need to be done in pairs, so i'd seriously consider a set of bc coilovers they are on a group buy in here and work out cheaper for a set than your 2 rears..
Don't be put off by this, they are fantastic cars once sorted, and just be thankfull you did not buy an evo as they cost even more and sound like washing machines

Send Bigsinky a private message he's in NI as well i'm sure he will point you in the right direction.
And there are many others over there that will be more than happy to help you im sure, they seem like a decent bunch with a good community.
I think there is a NI section in here in the regional clubs...

Take it back to the dealers with the list of bits to be done and ask them if there going to repair it?
Also maybe get a second opinion on the work that needs to be done, as at that price it sounds like a rip off! Then if the work does need doing then the garage shouldn't be able to wriggle out of it

I doubt very much it was an official dealer.
I can recommend two good guys if you need more help.
Either Michael White (OMA), or Ali Burrows. (Ali Burrows Motorsport)
Regardless though, so long as it was an actual car dealer, then you should have some comeback on this.

not fit for purpose?
Take it back with a report from the mechanic - tbh i would ask for my money back and go shopping again.

secondary air system helps with efficiency of the cat at low startup temps......feindishly clever but expensive and unecssary. Some peple just remove and blank off any holes

I had the engine warning light come on not long after I brought my 2006 Hawkeye. It too was the secondary air system and having spoken to Duncan @ RaceDynamix he told me that it was not important so he just reset the warning light and I never had any issues with it even when it was on in the winter,it still ran fine. Also have the headlight leveller light on as well but never bothered to do anything with it as it passed the MOT and have never had any issues on the road.

Could the dealer not void the warranty if somebody else has poked around with it ?. they may try it on with you. had the same prob with my Octavia vRS couple of years ago....but with a few less prob's.
Hope you get it sorted either way mate.

The whole sold as seen nonsense and no warranty implied or give doesn't stand up anymore. Under the sale of goods act you'll be protected. If the dealer is sensible they'll rectify the problems. If not get some advice from consumer direct and your local citizens advice. Worse case you'll have to take the dealer to the small claims court.
