Why do people when they advertise a car not show a picture of the most important thing imho, the engine .Most people will have a good idea of what the car looks like, but a good clear photo of the engine bay certainly wont hinder the sale.
I have brothers in the trade and taking a photo of the engine doesn't really sell a car. If anything, it merely satisfies a small percentage of enthusiasts query.

What like everyone on this forum ? or 90% of people looking to buy this kind of car

I agree, on stuff like mondeo or astras then engine shots don't really matter, but with cars like Imprezas, evo's, skylines etc I think engine pics make a big difference. Cars like ours are 'usually' owned by car enthusiasts not just a Joe bloggs looking for a daily runner.
The biggest failure with this post is that I very much doubt Lewis ever owned a Scoob let alone this fabled wagon that did 40 mpg and 100,000 miles on a single set of brake pads

Sorry mate, you need to read my post,,i never said it would sell the car ,but if you were to buy a car and the engine bay was spotlessley clean,it certainly would not put you off from buying the car imho.
Also as said above depends on the car your selling,a picture of a 1100cc fiesta engine might not be needed for someone looking to buy there 1st car.But a high performance car which can develop 200+ bhp std, then i would want to see a picture of whats developing that power.

I'm another in the camp of "why would I want to see pictures of the engine" ? Unless it looks non-std of course.....
I've never felt the need to clean my engine bay though so maybe I just don't get it? It's never stopped me keeping it properly maintained.
I also have never posted pictures of the gearbox, driveshafts or fuel tank when selling a car
