This is a very similar looking MY99 car on eBay as yours, but no details on the engine rebuild. It had no bids at £2500

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1999-SUBARU-IM...item2c545d2cb5

I cant believe how cheap classics go for after looking at completed listings on eBay!

While it looks very nice that is one car I wouldn't touch with someone else's barge pole!
It is a world away from an original one owner car. The engine rebuild de-catted exhaust and nine owners ring too many alarm bells. Buying a car at this kind of age/mileage is all about history and owners.
That said, the mileage on Pete's car will count against it so I doubt it would fetch more than £2.5k to £3k.

Surely the fact it is owned by the King of Scoobynet means it has some extra value

£3000 to sell because it's 1 owner and standard. Theres not many left like that so top money in my opinion.

Possibly a touch more if you had Air Con fitted at the time

Thanks all ....

I have spoken to Dealers ..... their opinions are based on what they can do with the figures, of course.

Some Part Exchange offers would be £4,000 if I paid List Price for the car in question ... but, we all know that's an artificial figure as the List Price on the new car is negotiable. I would realistically say that the Trade Price would be around £2500?

Clearly, if I could only get £2500 Private I may as well throw mine into the trade with all the ease and benefits that delivers ....

I was interested to know what the market said mine was worth so I could make a call as to what to do .....

But it can be proven that the mileage is absolutely genuine .....

it's about time we saw some pics of this famous car Pete

And a genuine 100,000 miles is still 100,000 miles! (Low for it's age or not) it would need to be 60,000 to make a significant difference to the price imho

Surely belonging to PS Lewis would increase the value. Maybe £4500???

FWIW C Macrae's 'old classic', MY97 (or 96?), 1 owner, FSH etc fetched 250 K.

Pete's must fetch close on the same, with him being just as legendary

Visit the Vauxhall website. Search round - I've forgotten where they've hidden it - and you can get a free Glass's guide valuation for your car

I would have said between £2500 - £3000,as the one i have just bought is the same year and model & colour with 2 owners, and 10k less mileage.I also have every receipt even the original order purchase from mar 2000,when the car cost £24,456 to every other receipt(over 40x pages) to when it was sold on this forum 5 years ago,to present day.
If the car has aircon,and/or factory sunroof will see the price getting very near to the 3K imho.

Good link!!

That gives the Trade value .... same, roughly, as WeBuyAnyCar.com

Private sales would be higher - which is why I'm asking here ... some may have sold/bought recently. The Subaru Dealer said there was a very strong market for late Classics.

Seems very similar to mine ..... only difference is mine is May 2000 and one owner ..... the new owner would also get the original sales receipt showing the price - did I really pay that much 10 years ago

The car I would buy now will be around £5,000 cheaper Just shows how things have gone! I blame Labour for the fall in new car prices, it's a disgrace

Yet you feel compelled to spend time reading and posting? Don't you think that rather weird?

As I said, I will guarantee you that I will buy your car, I will even send you £50 or more via Paypal before I even see the vehicle.

I will offer you £2600 for it, but I am flexible on this, what ever I will pay will be more than what any dealer will give you and I will out bid any genuine private buyer.

If you want me to send more that £50 to hold the car before I buy it, that is not a problem either, I can do this today, tomorrow or right now.

I have to say Pete looks like he's sold his Scoob nearly as quick as I did my 205 GTi - and that had 12 previous owners
