Hi there Open source is only available for New Age Impreza,no for Classic owners i'm afraid.
You have only two options like EcuTek or Aftermarket ECU like SimTek,Link,Gems or Syvecs.

99/2000 cars can not be mapped with open source. It's an Ecutek job only.

As Simon says - there is no reliable open source option for remapping these ecus. You are best off with either Ecutek on the std ecu or look to fit and aftermarket ecu such as Simtek or Syvecs depending on future requirements/budget etc.

Why not just remove the whole thread if people can't post their opinions?

What is more reliable, depends on mappers and personal preference.

Difference between EcuTek and Open Sourec is only licence,EcuTek features depends on your Impreza which you have,if you 2006 to 2011,you can have RaceRom which have lots of features(Mafless,Auto blip etc.),on Open Source you can have this features too(auto blip,Mafless etc) on every Impreza for less money.
