Daventry Panel Craft - Poor repair done - anyone else used them?
They where the approved repair company by the idiot that hit our cars insurance company. Seemed very switched on when they contacted me and inspected the vehicle.
Our car was hit from behind, slighly harder on the N/S as the light was also cracked. Went over the car and it was agreed that the bumper now did not line up, nor did the N/S light cluster or the bootlid - likely as a result of the panel behind the bumper being pushed back slightly. Easy diagnosis as the bumper bulged out either side.
Car returned, i had literally just come out of hospital. I signed ot say i had recieved it on Thursday. Washed the cars today and it was very apparent all they had done was to paint the bumper, not pull out or align the misaligned bumper, lights and bootlid. The paintwork is acceptable, good, but not great. The rest of the work (or lack or it) is just not acceptable.
You can see here how the bumper fits at the end nearest the wheel but just bulges out past that - you can get a flat bladed screwdriver in the gap
Same the other side
This gives an indication of how far out it is
as does this
You can see the boot lid is proud of the bumper and light cluster - it may not look much but worse in real life, boot still difficult to close!
This is not a difficult repair to get right!

I could not look round it easily, recovering from surgery (5+hours) and the general anaesthetic really took its toll, today is the first day i have been up and around I could not bend and was in huge amounts of pain just walking to the door. I will tackle them on Monday first thing along with the insurance company.

Sent to the insurance company. He fully understood what damage had been done, bot difficult to shut and the misalignment along with the cracked light and paint required - he agreed that the bumper ned to come off to see what damage was done behind it and to then pull it out or replace as required - none of that seems to have been done...

simple case of letting your insurance company know that you are unhappy with the repair that has been carried out matey, they will probably have to send out a rep to look over it with you, no matter what happens stick to your guns the car was straight before it was hit and you want it straight again, as for the paint job being ok thats crap you want it so that it matches the car end off.

the fact you signed a satisfaction note at collection makes no difference, looking at that ,i would not expect you to trust them to do the repair correctly . i would still ring them and see what they have to say and ask for a copy of the estimate. then you will see what they proposed to do ,to carry out the repair. then contact the insurance co and tell them your concerns and send them the photos . ask them to allow you to take it elsewhere. need any advice pm me .

+++++++++++UPDATE++++++++++++++++
Well i have to hand it to Daventry Panel Craft, they called me yesterday, collected the car this morning, fixed the problem and returned it the same day. They also supplied a courtesy car (without being asked for).
Nice to see customer service is not dead.
The panel fit and alignment is now spot on
