Default Octane booster

Off to france next week and I've been advised I should get some octance booster as their petrol is only 98ron max and my car is mapped for 99. Can anyone recomend what to use and where to get it from.

Cheers Tom

I wouldn't worry mate.

I went round Europe, and most places had 100+ RON. If you do want some though, buy Nitrous Formula.

Miller's CVL. Get it from opie oils. Ebay worth checking as you can sometimes buy a pack of 10 cheaper.

It really is the only one worth buying.

By all means take some OB to be on the safe side but your engine will be fine, just don't use quite so much boost!
People tend to get quite paranoid and believe the engine will destroy itself if the very same fuel that it was mapped on is not available. Even a well modded and mapped car will be ok on lower octane fuel as long as you limit the amount of boost you use.

Limit boost? Take it easy? Pah that's like saying share a bed with <insert fitty of choice> and not poke her!

I run my JDM classic on V-power and works fine w/out octane booster.

To be honest I found driving round Europe a pleasure in terms of fuel. There are so many stations about compared to the UK, and they all sell Super. OK, not always the mighty V-Power, but still 100RON.

Theoretically it should be fine BUT it only takes a bad batch of fuel (V Power can go 'off') or just a tad too much WOT and bang! Octane booster just adds a little safety margin whilst using lower octane fuel.

Ha, ha
Just like getting back to using your favorite fuel, resisting the urge just makes it feel extra good when you finally do!

Yeah. I *think* they were even 101. That was on the main routes, no back roads etc.
