Default Paint code nightmare!

For some unknown reason i decided to get a can of spray paint mixed for me in halfords!!!! I dont know what i was thinking Anyway it was for my 1997 sti ( paint code 230 white) all i needed to do was spray a little stone chip on the rear wheel arch.... it has now turned into a saga because the paint they mixed for me looks more like an off- white than the bright white of the original paint work, the guy look quite nervous about mixing it and said that i should walk around the store and come back in 5 mins. there were three different 230 codes showing on the computer he had, now my question is do you think he messed up or are there any variations of this paint code?

AFAIK paint code 230 is feather white which isn't the brightest white in the world and positively creamy compared to modern whites like Arctic / ice white on fords.

Has your car been resprayed in a more moders subaru pure white ??

Have you tried putting the paint on the car then judging the match ? I once had some white paint mixed for an astra i scratched. When i looked at it in the bottle it looked more grey than white. Once i put it on the car and let it dry it ended up a perfect match.

Exactly what are you trying to paint? Even if you got an exact match in a can as soon as you try and blend it to a panel it'll look different due to the pressure of the paint can and the nozzle pattern.

That said Halfrauds are a bit clueless all round.........

Paint code for pure white is 51E

The paint code for feather white is 230 and was the standard white for Subaru's for a lot of the classics..

google local paint suppliers, one local to me did me a rattle can in WR Blue, it was spot on

just to add that the nozzle supplied was fantastic, with a nice fan

my thoughts exactly, there can be say 2 differant whites for subaru, However both whites could have 5-6 differant shade's of white.
You should take your fuel flap with you to get a better match.

Silvers are the worse.

Hope ya get it sorted matey
