dump valve decision
okay so i have a baileys dump valve on my wrx classic and the moment and i know it will sound really chavvy, but instead of the loud woosh, i want the flutter niose i have heard before, its running 20psi of boost with a remap from jolly green giant. what do i buy to buy or swap with the dump valve to have that niose ?
thanks

The flutter noise is due to not having any dump valve. On lifting off the throttle the incoming air flow hits the closed throttle and bounces back towards the turbo. The fluttering noise is the air going the wrong way through the turbo causing the compressor blades to stall.
So assuming you're turbo is up to it all you need is a blanking plate to cover the hole after the dump valve is removed (assuming its the type fixed to the intercooler, if not the just a plug for the hose.).

just had a quick look and my dump valve is bolted to my polished sti intercooler and has a tube going to the in car boost gauage and a wire of that going to the head,
suggestions much appriecated guys
btw i noticed someone said better mpg this really has my ears open
thanks a lot guys

depends what air filter you have. on my legacy with standard airbox+panel filter you can hear nothing from inside the car, and maybe a slite low pitched rush from outside. With a cone filter you can hear it a lot more, or still standard but with a leak from intercooler hose it sounds like a dump valve...
BETTER mpg?
How is that supposed to work?
DV delete is all well and good until it does irreperable damge to the trubo, and with it, possibly, the engine.
Up to you, of course, it's your car.
There are always those who say, "go for it!", or, "Hey, I've been doing that for N years and mine's been great!", but THEY won't be helping with any repair bills

Any recirc valve, like the OE one fitted by Subaru.
Unless you are running huge power, or the OE valve is faulty, (unlikely), use that one.
If you are using a panel filter, it's fairly quiet, but once you start tuning and move to a cone filter it's quite loud.
DO be careful, thouigh, cone filters are NOT good for Scoobs except under certain conditions, so take advice first

The re-circ on my Skyline is pretty loud with a POD filter.
You will only hear it with a cone/mushroom etc type filter, with standard airbox it is hardly heard at all unless your running some serious boost or have a very quiet exhaust lol!.
