Taking my54 wrx to 300bhp
Just got my second wrx after having a classic a few years ago.
Plan to keep it for 2 years then move to a hawkeye sti.
I want to take this car to around 300bhp over the next year and just enjoy it for a year with also spending time cleaning some area's up.
Anyway point of topic is what is the best way to take my car upto 300 bhp safely. Im not going to say a budjet as i want to do this as well as possible not as cheap as possible. Im going to also do it in stages so if you can give me a good order of the parts that would be good.
Thanks

Would most probably need a turbo change. TD04 runs out of puff just before 300 bhp.
Your best bet would be to look out for an STI owner selling off his old bits after upgrading.
VF35, 550cc injectors, de-cat and exhaust change, and a panel filter, then a re-map should see you to just over 300bhp safely.

As above. I struggled on my old 04 WRX to get to 300 with original turbo etc. They seem to get to 275 quite comfortably, but then its harder to see more. Also have to consider clutch, brakes etc, which are all uprated for the STI.

I went down the same route as you plan with my WRX PPP in stages. Fitted a 3" decatted Milltek system, Walbro fuel pump and Ecutek remap, ran at around 270 bhp for a few years. Then changed to a VF35, STI pinks, decatted up pipe and a remap to around 320 ( Zen ) Car feels far more urgent than with the TD04, particularly in the mid and upper rev range. Fuel consumption remain the same in day to day driving and cruising. I uprated brakes and suspension before power as the brakes in particular were at their limit at PPP level.

Good topic this, as I have a newage uk300 ppp wrx and am in the same position, I have just upgraded to coilovers, far better than the stock WRX set up, My plan is to go H&S decat downpipe, mid section, mid decat all in 2.5" to mate with the prodrive back box. JR panel filter and remap, I appreciate this wont give a huge increase over the PPP but hope it will be much more driveable, see how I feel at this stage then look at turbo upgrade, fuel pump, up pipe, sti injectors/tmic if needed, I would like a well set up 320bhp as my end goal, not pushing the std box/internals too far (hopefully) !

312.1 bhp at 6624. Not bad for a humble WRX, running standard intercooler
298lb ft of torque
Really happy with the result, particularly with how flat the torque curve is.
As I've owned it for 4 years already, think I'll keep it as it is power wise, 300 with the 5 speed provides ample for road driving for me.
Really knowledgeable bloke at Motoscope too. Bob

Andy F TD04 hybrid, I picked up a TD04 for about £30 on here and exchanged it against the Hybrid, costs more than a second hand VF but you know what you are getting then. Basically a new turbo with a warranty
