WRX service
Hi folks,
I'm trying to figure out exactly what my car needs on its next service.
Its a 2001 bugeye wagoon with sports cat downpipe, prodrive exhaust back box remapped to 270bhp.
It has 70K on it now. Book is stamped with 1000, 7500, 15000, 22500, 30000, 37500 and 45000 services. 45000 was May 2008. 30000 is marked "CAM belt fitted" and 45000 is marked "S+F Timing Belt" and "(Includes Cam belt)" in box has been scored out.
Since I got it at 53K in June 2009 it has had regular oil changes. Fuel Filter, plugs and Fuel pump at 60K and thats about it. Brakes are all fine.
So now at 70K what does it need? I have never done transmission oils and I have never done coolant.
Sorry to ask lots of questions but I don't want to miss anything.

Hi Mate,
The log book runs out on 70K which does not help when looking to service after. Alls I do is go back over the previous service criteria and establish the repeat patterns ie what needs to be changed every 10k, 20k, 30k etc etc. There is a definate pattern for the WRX and sure there will be for yours too - do you have the service schedule?
As a minimum, if all past services have been done in full, I would change the oil, filter, fuel filter (esp if you let the fuel run low), check plugs and check all belts generally where possible. As the trans fluid has not been done I would do this as a matter of course along with the brake fluid and coolant.
Regarding the cam belt (timing belt same thing) I believe this should be changed every 45K so going by when yours was changed (30K) I suggest this is done as part of your service - no point taking the risk!
Hope this helps mate.

I think we were both wrong, the cam belt requires changing every 50k or 60 months according to service schedule - just checked it to make sure.
I think Slowboy is suggesting that if both services done at the same garage you can call them up and check exactly what has been undertaken in the past.

You will need (based on 5 speed MT gearbox and turbo engine):
Transmission Oil - 3.5 litres (check grade with supplier)
Engine Coolant - 7.7 litres (make sure good quality summer/winter type - 5 year stuff)
Cheers

Also, I would call both the garages and check out for sure when cam belt was done. I suspect Subaru one stands but I do think this was done rather early if only needed to be done at 50k. You may want to try and investigate this further, usually the dealers can be quite helpful in this respect.
If legit cam belt done at 30k then you are ok until 80k accordin to the book anyway.
Good luck with it mate.
